Hi everyone,
Firstly may I wish everyone a Happy and Successful New Year.

I thought I'd drop the forum a line, as I would like to know what other members think about OCR being called Formula 3. At the AGM John Puddifoot told us what he was trying to do for Offshore Racing in general. Re-classifying the classes to make it easier to sell the sport was one of them. It appears from the newsletter I received that this re-classification will happen this year. Now, please don't get me wrong, I'm not against anything that promotes Offshore Racing as a whole, and I think John Puddifoot brings a breathe of fresh air to that cause. What I'm afraid of is OCR loosing its identity if it is re-named Formula 3. These re-classifications bring into line the Offshore and RIB boys, but OCR isn't pure Offshore Racing. Many years ago OCR was known as Class 4 and it struggled to get the recognition it deserved, when it was re-named Offshore Circuit Racing it was able to thrive and progress as a sport under its own rights. OCR was no longer hidden under the shadow of pure Offshore Racing, what I don't want to see is OCR pulled back under that shadow. Having Formula's in Offshore is great, but lets keep the name of Offshore Circuit Racing it defines and differentiates us against the Offshore boys.
What do you think?

All the best

Stuart
