門馬會採用人道毀滅馬匹之方式獲國際獸醫協會認可及澳門政府批准符合國際賽馬團體標準
二零零二年六月十六日香港英文南華早報以頭條新聞報導澳門馬會處理退役馬匹之方法。唯報導以偏概全，將焦點集中於人道毀滅馬匹，容易誤導讀者認為此乃澳門馬會處理退役馬匹之唯一途徑。

事實上，澳門馬會所有退役馬匹均因健康有問題而退役，大部份退役馬均患有無法治愈之症狀。其餘可以復原之馬匹會被遣送至澳門馬會騎術學校、見習生訓練學校、路環及國內騎術學校。

另外，為保障馬主權益及使馬匹可盡其所能，澳門馬會更設有馬匹休養區予傷患馬匹，讓牠們可以調養身體，延長競賽生命。在此段期間，養馬費亦作下調，馬主權益亦得到保障。

馬會現時採用人道毀滅馬匹之方式有兩種，一為注射超量巴比特酸鹽。另一以0.32口徑之手槍射殺。此兩種均為國際獸醫協會認可之方式，而且亦獲得澳門政府批准。因此並非如報導所指之不人道。反之，以槍射殺乃更人道，因馬匹更迅速死亡。

就該報導有誤導大眾及損害澳門馬會名譽之嫌，會方保留法律追究權利，特此聲明，以正視聽 !!
