I wrote this poem last year, because I love butterflies, and now I'm dedicating it to the monarch butterflies that froze in Mexico, so sad.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GONE?

Where have all the butterflies gone?
The pretty wings of blue, and purple, and green.
The ones who shimmer and shine.
I remember, as a little girl, how they would paint
their beauty all over the earth as they flutter
and fly through the gentle breeze.

Where have all the butterflies gone?
The ones who brightened up a gray, gloomy day
and made me feel special in every way, like
the pretty picture of them nestled in the flowers.
and the way I'd hold them in my hands as my
tears slowely drifted away.

Oh, how I miss you dancing butterflies!
So beautiful and free bearing no disguise.
Little butterflies, come home.
This is where you belong.
Why have you gone?
No goodbye. Tell me why.
