Hard times in the land of plenty
The towers tumbled down in New York City
Fight for freedom or there isn't any
Hard times up ahead for you and me
For Lady Liberty.

Better fly your colors high my friend
And paray there will be a means to an end
Discord is spreading over us on the wind
Keep your brother well when hard times set in
With open heart and hand.

In hard times take the little victories
Embrace them through trials and tragedies
As we watch our horizons for enemies
Remember our fallen on bended knees
Vindicate them with peace.

Hard times in the land of plenty
Gather up your virtues 'round your family
Fight for justice or at least stand ready
Hard times come again to test our bravery
We who love our home free
