Lapse

God, they shun your loving way, and shrill in fear;
Lost, they turn their lives from you, and trill in fear.

Lord, your ageless healing words they do not hear;
And so, drear their lives with anguish fill in fear.

God, they walk through life without your spirit dear;
In your gelid absence their hearts chill in fear.

Good Lord, wanting for your hope and comfort near,
They yet deeper darkling sorrows till in fear.

God, lacking your love, their hatreds, burning, sear;
Poisoned, their spirits die, fallen ill in fear.

Dear God, from the peaceful path you lead they veer,
Yet your name some call upon, and kill in fear.

Lord, if your bond to his heart were not gained clear,
Zahaar on this day, too, would live still in fear.
