The deer eyed grazers
gather at the water fountain
exchanging bits and pieces
of once chewed cud
deftly scattering
at the approach of a suit
only to reconcile
once the danger has passed
creatures of practiced habit
honed over countless time
flocking to familiar haunts
a stainless water fountain
with white cone cups
the surrounding carpet
thread bare and frayed
from the meandering herd
where a suit may always
bag a grazer or two
