The Tradgedy of Desire

Deep within me she lights a spark
Like Embers glowing in the dark
Her beauty ignites the flame of desire
Her wit and grace fan the fire
Her mystic essence creates a blazing pyre
Towering flames that can go no higher
But a Goddess shows not a peasant grace
Her eyes cannot get past my homely face
She cannot witness the power of my mind
She cannot see the depth of this soul of mine
Or feel the passion of my heart confined
But I too am guilty of this crime
Many a woman of plain countenance
Have made plenty an amourous advance
Only to be shunned cast aside by me
On the basis of their outer beauty
Why is it that we want what we can never have
Unwilling to settle for those who would be glad
To call me there own and cherish me
For this is my hellish tradgedy
