Not a single day goes by,
that you aren’t in my thoughts
and I wonder what it’s like,
to be where you are.

Never thought too much
about being left behind,
guess I just figured
you’d be here all the time.

Now I am left alone
with my thoughts of you,
doesn’t seem too fair
but then what else can I do?

No I never thought about it,
life being so very hard
for those left behind
wearing grief’s dark shroud.

Nothing ever prepares us
for that fateful day,
when death takes our love
and steals it silent away.
