The words were like a raft
tossed on rough wave seas.
Built upon wooden hopes in earnest,
lashed together by vine like tendrils
made of tightly tethered dreams.
A raft of tomorrow’s promise
bobbing in the wake of today.
One that I cling to dearly,
in spite of pounding waves,
and when the raft is crushed
beneath the heaving sea.
I build the raft anew
with fresh hewed hopes,
tied tight by budding dreams.
