A north wind blows, deep snow in the meadow
Where earlier sunflowers grew, tall and yellow
Now winter lays cold and white on frozen ground
The rustle of yellow sunflowers, a forgotten sound

But not in the faded memories of past spring
Where flowers bloom and songbirds sing
There, sunflowers grow in the meadow still
And I can see them clear from a nearby hill

The days and nights of winter are so very long
Yet I want nothing more than songbird�s song
And my meadow, where sunflowers once grew
Not one filled with snow but the meadow I knew

The meadow
filled with sunflowers
tall and yellow
