My words are mere grains
of common place sand
found on any beach

They may glitter a bit
as would a grain of sand
when held just right
reflecting the sun

My words are the same
as are those before me
and those before them
echoing ordinary

Word upon word
thought on thought
novelty a lost art
volume its final undoing

The quill is worn out,
inkwell gone dry
parchment faded unreadable
poetry has died

My words are mere grains
of common place sand
found on any beach
yet still I stand barefoot
