She sat at the bar, looking around at all the other customers; that goofy little grin on her face. Periodically, Star conversed with the bar-tender, switching back and forth from English to Japanese.
Laughing behind her caught her attention, and then the beginnings of a story she had heard very often came afterward. The story of Vash, The Stampede.
She turned slightly in her seat, listening to the awing stories about a man who could damage a whole town and kill no one.
"I would hate to live my life running from everyone..... with all these rumors going around... it must be tough for him to make friends... poor guy..."
The bartender rolled his eyes. "Don't be daft. The man's a killer."
"Says the gossips.... but people also say I'm an idiot. All I can say is... you can never judge a book by it's cover. And it's dangerous to trust the words of someone who might stab you in the back later. Gossip is dangerous business."
The bartender rolled his eyes again, shook his head, and went back to cleaning glasses. He assumed as many others did... that Star was some foolish woman with a child's mind. But looks are deceiving... aren't they?
