 The zebra mare, knowing it was far too late to help with the recapture of Daylite, finds her next priority easily. She steps gently over to the crying mare, delicate black hooves mincing a path through the crisp winter grass. Extending her blackened muzzle, she nudges the mare softly. "He will be home soon," she says, with much more conviction than she felt. She could not let the mother know she was as worried, or it would cause more harm than good.
