Normally, a frag earns you 1 point. *Enemy frags MADE FROM WITHIN YOUR BASE will net you 2 points. *Fragging the enemy flag carrier also nets you 2 points, and returning the flag is worth a point. *If you return your flag (2 pts), and your teammate captures within 4 seconds, you get an "assist" which is worth another point *Finally, if you capture, everyone on your team gets 5 points (the capturer gets no additional points for a capture). On ctf4, a good player can potentially sit in his own base (which assures him 2 points per frag) and rapidly pick off enemies from across the map. If he were patient, he could allow an enemy to penetrate, allow him to get the flag (purposely missing him), then nail him on the way out and get the retrival... thats 4 points. Every time his team caps, he gets 5 points, and if he happens to get an assist, thats at least another point. Now that we have that cleared up, I'd like to point out that the object of the game is to CAPTURE THE FLAG, as its name implies. Having the highest scoring players on your team does not nesassarily guarantee a win. And nothing looks dumber to me then a player with 400 points on the losing team. I have found that my CTF strategy in public servers differes greatly from my strategy when I play in clan matches. In public servers, I tend to camp in my base and play defense. Thus, I get maximum points AND I am benefitting my team. The "score whore" philosophy is prevalent in all public games. During clan matches, I tend to play more offence (i.e. less points). I am a more effective offensive player anyway, and CAPS WIN THE GAME. Good defense is vital, but caps are the most important thing. Its alot like football...A strong defense is brutal, but defense dosent score touchdowns, and no team ever won with a score of 0. Sooner or later someone gets through, you just gotta get more through then your opponent. All of this stupidity is to prove to all of you that a player using bot CAN score an unreasonable amount of points in a game, and can therefore be looked upon suspiciously, BUT a good player on a good day can achieve nearly the same results by playing smart. At the Nth level, it can be difficult to discern a bot from a good player. Just look at Albion*God. Anyone who has played against him in CTF can testify to his bot-like anticipation and awesome aim. However, this is the result of practice and experience. He has played enough to know where people like to run, camp, jump through windows, etc... So it may SEEM like hes got some help, but he's really just that good. Of course, It's easier on the ego to just cry "BOT" when your losing, but it isnt always right. Im not saying there arent bots being used, and frequently at that. I'm just saying that it may be more difficult then you guys appreciate. I've seen the chikun demo, but I'm not 100% sold on it. Granted, it's some unbelievable shit, but that may have been a dude having the best game of his life. I'll never know. I know when I have good days, people accuse me of botting. I hope they arent making demos of me... Sui [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
