"Ok, we are sorry." And we trotted the horses through all the people. We got to the barns and Susan said, �I have to go claim my seats right now. Can I leave her in your extra stall?" She asked pointing to her horse. "Ya sure." Then I dismounted and said bye to everyone then grabbed my things and went to get ready for the Derby. I went into the jockey�s room and all the guy jockeys started to tease me because I was the only girl riding in the derby. I got changed into my Purple and White silks. Then I headed out to the saddling paddock and saw Mach towering over the rest of the horses. When he saw me he whickered and everyone laughed. Aaron and Kaylee got him ready then Aaron gave me a leg up and both him and Kaylee wished me good luck. Then Aaron led us around the walking ring. Once we got around the ring one of the lead horses and riders came and hooked the leadline to Mach's bit. Mach walked calmly to the gate and i was nervous. We settled in our #1 position. I got ready for the burst from the gate. Then once all the horses were loaded we waited only a few seconds until BANG! The gates clanged open. "ANNNND THERE OFF! MACH THREE TAKES THE LEAD! SUGAR BEAM IS IN SECOND WITH WILLOW KING A CLOSE THIRD!" The horses raced down the backstretch. The race was playing fast but we still had a 2 length lead on the field. I asked Mach for just a bit of speed. "AND MACH THREE IS PULLING AWAY FROM THE FIELD! 1 LENGTH...2 LENGTHS...3 LENGTHS...HE IS NOW 7 LENGTHS INFRONT OF THE FIELD AND STILL PULLING AWAY AS THEY HEAD INTO THE SECOND TURN!" We still had about 3/4 of the race left. We headed down the next stretch of track and I asked for just a bit more. "MACH THREE HAS GAINED A 10 LENGTH LEAD ON THE FIELD! AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE PUT ON BY THIS HORSE!" We raced around the next few turns still in the lead. Then we came down the homestretch �AND DOWN THE STRETCH MACH THEY COME! MACH THREE IS GOING HARD FOR THE WIRE AND HIS RIDER HAS LET HIM OUT ALL THE WAY LOOK AT THAT HORSE GO HE IS JUST A BLUR OF BAY!� I let Mach out a bit more and I thought this announcer knows nothing! Then i let Mach out all the way. He burst forward and under the wire. "AND WE HAVE OUR DERBY WINNER, MACH THREE, WINNING THE DERBY BY 20 LENGTHS! AND HE HAS JUST BEAT THE RECORD FOR THE DERBY! AND THAT HORSE HAS BEARLY BROKEN A SWEAT" I punched my fist in the air and slowed Mach down to a jig. He repeatidly tossed his head. Aaron came onto the track and said, "You big goof that was more like just an easy workout for you." I laughed and we all headed to the winners circle. I dismounted then i weighed in and then hopped back on. They drapped the blanket of roses over Mach and Mach turned around and grabbed one off of the roses off of the blanket. I laughed and with Kaylee at his head and Aaron at my side we all smiled for the picture. Then i dismounted and tried to make my way to the jockey room but everyone was asking for autographs and finally after about 1/2 hour of interviews and stuff like that i finally made it to the jockey room. I had a shower then changed into some clean nice clothes and went back to see how Mach was doing. He seemed fine and one of the track guards was watching him for us so we went out for supper and then we came back to the barn and feed Mach then gave him lots of attention then we went to the hotel and went to bed........................
