Saddle sighs sadly. "There isnt anything you can do, its not treatable, Kelsey already lost Legacy, she was only 20 months old, and it looks like we're going to lose the rest of the sick ones too" Saddle tells her. "That means they have no hope?" Jenny gasps. "No, sometimes they recover, but they normally carry the disease forever and if they get stressed it comes back, and often the disease paralyzes them. Silky, Lily, Stormy and Trust are all paralyzed in the hind end and so was Legacy" Saddle says softly. "Saddle, i'd like to go over to Jenny's and take a look at her horses now" Dana says. "Ok" Saddle replies. "I just want to take one more look at your horses" Dana tells her. Saddle leads her through the barn. They find that all the sick horses except Silky and Lily had died in the last hours. Silky was completely paralyzed now and Lily's paralysis seemed to be spreading. "Saddle, i think its time" Dana tells her sadly, "They dont have much hope of a full recovery, they'll most likely be badly paralyzed for the rest of their lives." "What do you mean?" Travis exclaims. "Lily can't die!" he gasps. "Travis, she's very sick, she probably wont even last the night" Saddle tells him. "No, dont put her down!" Travis protests. "Travis, its time, its not fair to make her suffer just because you dont want to lose her" Saddle tells him. Travis thinks a minute, then answers "Alright, but let me say bye to her first". He lets himself into her stall and the light chestnut mare struggles to lift her head, Travis sits by her head and gently strokes her forelock, then whispers something into her ear. Dana gets her medical bag and walks back with 2 syringes, each filled with a cloudy, lethal looking liquid. "Will it hurt her?" Travis asks softly. "No, she'll just close her eyes and not open them again, like falling asleep" Dana replies. She walks into the mare's stall and sticks the needle into her neck and injects the liquid. A minute later Lily stops breathing. Travis runs out of the stall and up to the house. Saddle lets him go, watching him sadly. Then Dana gives Silky the same shot. Saddle watches her stallion die with tears running down her cheeks. After a minute she straightens up. "Well, theres nothing left to do here except to completely sterilize this barn about a million times and arrange for the horses to be burried. I want to burry them here" Saddle tells them. Then she calls to make arrangements while everyone waits. "Thanks so much for helping, everyone" Saddle tells them. "Jenny, why dont Kelsey and i get cleaned up and go help out at your farm" Saddle offers.........
