Saddle, Kelsey and Travis go to the broodmare auction farm to do the morning chores. they are almost done with the stalls when a rusty two horse trailer pulls up, with a screaming and kicking horse inside. A man hops out of the truck. "You people take free broodmares?" He asks gruffly. "Yes, we do" Saddle replies politely. "Ok, i got this mare, shes an ex-racer, got abused by her grooms and jockeys and her owner dont want her anymore, shes got nice lines and shes sound. I'll give you papers and a bill of sale now, signed by her owner" He replies. "We'll take her" Saddle tells him. "Alight, i'll give you the papers and get her off the trailer, then shes yours to get rid of" the man says. Saddle takes the papers and they both sign them. Then the man takes the horse out of the trailer. She prances nervously, half rearing. Travis watches, amazed. "Travis and Kelsey, one of you take her and the other can get a stall ready. "I'll take her!" Travis exclaims. The man hands him the lead and gets back into his truck and leaves. "I'm calling the vet out now" Saddle tells him. The mares got a current clean coggins, but i want to make sure theres nothing else wrong. Travis nods, keeping his attention on the big, spirited thoroughbred mare. A few minutes later Kelsey appears. "Ok, shes got the stall at the far end of the barn" She calls. Travis leads her into the barn and lets her into the stall, then unclips her lead. She rushes to the back corner of the stall. "The vet will be out in an hour. Kelsey, lets go get Tori, she offered to vet him at the same time." Saddle calls down the isle. "Ok!" Kelsey replies. she rushes to the SUV and she and Saddle get in. they drive home and pick up Tori, then take him back to the broodmare sales barn. Kelsey turns him out in a pasture and goes back to finish working in the broodmare barn. She finds Travis staring into the new mare's stall. "We only have 3 more stalls, come on!" Kelsey tells him. "Isnt she beautiful" Travis asks. "She'll be more beautiful once the stalls are done" Kelsey replies. Travis rushes through the stalls while Kelsey cleans up the paddock. By the time they are done the vet pulls down the driveway. Travis rushes to the new mare's stall. he walks in with a piece of apple and offers it to her. while she eats, he clips a lead to her halter, then runs a chain over her nose. Then he leads her out to the vet's truck. the vet looks her over carefully, then takes x-rays of her hooves and all her joints. "I didnt find anything in my initial examination, we'll see what the x-rays show" The vet tells Saddle and Travis. Then Travis puts her back in her stall and Kelsey brings Tori up. The vet looks over Tori and takes x-rays of his hooves, and all his joints, then goes to her office to devolop the x-rays. A few hours later, she returns. "Both horses have clean x-rays" She tells Saddle and the kids. "Great!" Kelsey and Travis exclaim. Saddle pays the vet and she leaves. "So, mom, i was thinking and since the new mare vetted out so well and shes got such great conformation, she'd be wasted as a broodmare" Travis says carefully. "Your probobly right" Saddle replies. "Well, i was also thinking, that i need a bigger horse and she looks like a fun training project and she really agile and well balanced and..." Travis gets cut off by Saddle "Ok, ok, i get the picture! Are you sure shes the horse you want?" Saddle asks. "Yes" Travis replies. "Alright, shes yours" Saddle tells him. "YES!" Travis yells. "Ok, Kelsey get Tori ready, and Travis, get the mare ready" Saddle tells them. They get the horses ready, and load them into Saddle's trailer after putting Vicks VapoRub (so he cant smell the mare) on Tori's nose. Then they take the horses home. Travis's mare fights the whole way, screaming nervously. When they get back home, Saddle tells Travis to put her in a stall and Kelsey turns Tori out in his paddock. Then they go up to the house. Saddle gives Travis his horse's papers. "So her names Secret Tiger Lily" He mumbles to himself. "We'll call her Lily" he announces to Saddle and Kelsey. "Lily fits her perfectly" Saddle replies. After they relax for awhile, they go feed the horses and Travis grooms Lily and works with her for awhile.
