*Saddle, Mikki, Alison, Hannah, Jessie, Maggie and Michelle all get ready to go to Saddle's mother's house for the week. "Mom do we HAVE to go? theres NOTHING to do at Grandma's" Jessie protests. "There will be a suprise at Grandma's today" Saddle says mysteriously. "I hope its good!" Jessie exclaims. "You'll love it, and besides, you haven't seen her in a year. we need to visit sometimes" Saddle tells her. They get in the car for the 7 hour drive with their dogs. after several stops at McDonalds for food and a break from driving they arrive. Saddle's mother, a tall, thin woman in her 50's hurries out the door. "Oh, wonderful! you're all here!" She exclaims excitedly. "Come on, lets get all your stuff in the house." she tells them, grabbing the nearest suitcase. "Tomorrow i'll show you my newest investment" she tells them as she leads them to the huge guest bedroom. There were 3 sets of bunk beds in the room. "I get the top!" Mikki calls. "So do I" Hannah exclaims. "Me too!" Michelle calls. "Ok, we get bottoms, then" Jessie, Maggie and Alison say agreeably. Saddle and her mother, Ann, walk over to the next room, a smaller room with 1 bed in it. it was Saddle's room while she was growing up. "I can't believe its still the same after all this time" Saddle says. "Its your room, i'll never change it" Ann replies. A little while later, Saddle walks over to the big guest room. "Ok, time for bed, your grandma cant wait to show you the suprise tomorrow" the kids all go to sleep. Tiny whines until Hannah brings her up to sleep with her and Lilly curls up in a corner. The next morning they wake up early and go downstairs. Ann is already awake and cooking breakfast. after they eat, jessie asks "Grandma, when can we see the suprise?" "As soon as your ready to go outside" Ann replies. They all run and put on their sneakers and then hurry back to the kitchen "Hey! wait for me!" Alison protests, trying to hurry down the hallway, but her crutches made rushing in small areas difficult. They all walk down the path together until they reach an old barn. They walk in and a man greets them "Hi, i'm Rob, i'm the stable manager" he says. "Stable manager? that means you have horses!" Maggie exclaims. Ann smiles. "Yes, i have several horses, just like i used to when your mother was growing up. Come meet them" she tells them.
"This is Bonnie, one of my broodmares" she says, pointing to a stall where a elegant gray head sticks out
"The mare in this stall is Angel and her colt is Demon" she tells them.
"And this is Gray, my stallion" she says, pointing into a magnificant gray horse's stall. he pokes his head over the door and noses her gently. "Wow, hes beautiful!" Mikki tells her. "Would you like to ride him, Mikki? your mom says that you're a wonderful rider" Ann offers. "Wow, i'd love to!" Mikki exclaims. "What about the rest of us?" Jessie asks. "You may take turns riding Bonnie and Angel and playing with Demon" Ann tells them. "Cool! we get to play with the baby!" Maggie exclaims. They all tack up the horses and lead them to the riding ring. Mikki mounts Gray and warms him up. the 16hh stallion is extremely responsive and a dream to ride. Mikki does shoulder ins, counter canters and flying changes while Ann watches, smiling proudly. Everyone else takes turns on Bonnie and Angel. both mares were well trained and responsive, but also very lazy. They spend the whole week with their grandma down in the barn, playing with the horses and listening to stories about all the horses she used to have. almost every horse was an andalusion or a percheron. Nobody wanted to go back home at the end of the week. "You can come back whenever you want" Ann promises. "Its been lonely here since your grandfather died" she says sadly. "We'll come back soon, i promise!" Jessie calls out the window. When they get back to BRS they unpack the car, then go see their horses. "I have another suprise for you all. I bought 2 foals from Dana" Saddle tells them "You did! Cool!" Hannah exclaims. "We'll pick them up soon" Saddle tells her.*
