From TV Shows on DVD comes word that Season 1 of "Marcus Welby, M.D." will be released this spring and that's notable in that Joanna appeared in three episodes that year as Nurse Anne MacAndrews (her only other Welby appearance was three years later in a different role).

I found out recently that David Gruner - who played the Jewish boy Yale Michaels in the memorable "Bitter Herbs" episode of "Shazam!" - died a week before Christmas 2009. He was only 52.
It's eerie because I had just watched that particular episode last weekend and I was thinking what a terrific actor he was. :(

Since my daughter has gotten to the age where she loves all the superhero movies, and particularly the female characters portrayed by stars like Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner,I have been collecting DVDs of movies and TV shows... I was thrilled to find a DVD of The Secrets of ISIS recently, and oh my god...I had forgotten how stunning JoAnna Cameron was...and her soft, soothing voice...I LOVED her as a kid, and after seeing her recent photo from a sci fi convention and reading her comments...I'm in love all over again...Will you marry me, JoAnna?

- autograph requests to Joanna Cameron -- Byron, 09:48:37 01/19/10 Tue (NoHost/208.119.147.44)
I just wanted to check to see if I was understanding the procedure correctly for requesting an autograph from Joanna Cameron. From what I've seen in posts by the site administrator and Lisa (a friend of Joanna), Joanna charges twenty dollars for a signed color photo and ten dollars for a black & white one. Does Joanna still provide a photo to sign, or does she prefer that one be supplied to her to sign? If the latter is true, does she still require an appropriate payment?
The reason I'm asking is because I wrote to her in late October and have not received any response. According to delivery confirmation it appears to have arrived at the right destination. With my letter I included a twenty dollar check (which hasn't cleared) along with a self addressed, stamped envelope.
I realize from the posts that Joanna is very busy and doesn't necessarily respond right away. Really, I understand she is under no obligation to actually follow through at all. I don't want to seem that I'm being critical of Joanna since I don't know what the situation is with her or if her conditions for signing autographs have changed. I wish her the best. I'm just wanting to clarify if I've done what is appropriate in seeking an autograph from her. Any advice others from others who have had success or are in the know would be appreciated.

For those interested in obataining copies of the short-lived 1976-77 Isis comic book based on the TV series, there is a torrent file containing all eight issues that allows them to be downloaded if you have a program like BitTorrent AND if you have the "ComicRack" software program. I had a chance to thumb through some of them and they launched this with a lot of enthusiasm only to have low-sales short-circuit the project. I suspect that a lot of young boys in those days, even those who enjoyed watching Isis on TV, were generally not the kind who wanted to call attention to themselves buying a comic book spotlighting the adventures of a superheroine.

Anyone know what the quality is like of the "Shazam" DVDs that Jackson Bostwick gives away "free" with the purchase of artwork on his site? I just bought a set of the series from a collector and I'm disappointed in the picture quality. Also, there are no tags. I'm wondering if what Jackson is offering is any better? Thanks.

After moving to Hilo, Hawaii, in 2003, I was in Wal-mart on the Kona side. At the time, I didn't know she was living in Hawaii. I told my wife, "I just saw someone that looked like Joanna Cameron of Isis leaving the store!" Then, a few years later, I found out she lived on the island. She was easily recognizable because of her beauty and grace -- after all these years. What a lovely lady.

Any chance of getting a more comprehensive bio section up on Ms Cameron? A lot of people are wondering why she left the business, and exactly what she did with herself after. in fact she's probably got a pretty interesting story to tell, if she eve decides to do a full bio. Not every actress was doing All in the Family spoofs with Bob Hope and John Wayne while still in their early twenties (people still ask about 'the indian girl' when that one is aired)!

maybe it was my imagination, but it seemed like JC wasn't as enthused to be playing the part of Andrea/Isis in the second season. It seemed like she was kind of sad, more down and out. Like I said, maybe my imagination playing tricks, so if it is, then ok.
Also, JP said something about the upcoming Isis movie in her interview....when is that supposed to come out? I heard it wasn't going to be like the original, though.
I don't know any of these people who were in the tv Saturday series like some of you, who know them personally, and maybe I don't fit in here, because I don't. I think that because I am a very quiet individual, I am probably the most boring individual on the planet.

- Setting the Record Straight-a Message from Joanna to fans -- Lisa Everetts (mixed), 18:30:28 07/28/07 Sat (oh-76-5-239-19.dhcp.embarqhsd.net/76.5.239.19)
I am a personal friend of Joanna Cameron's, and I just got off the phone with her, and I felt that with the release of the "Secrets of Isis" DVD, that it should be cleared up as to why you won't see Joanna on the special features.
Yes, she was approached to be a part of it, but there seems to have been a lack of communication in the process of getting her on the special features. She never said she would not be a part of it, infact she very much wanted to be a part of the DVD. It has been said about the money being an issue, but what people don't understand ...especially outside of the entertainment industry...is that being an actor/actress is your job. That's what you are paid to do. It is being an artist...but that your work isn't a painting, it is a tv show or a movie, but that is "you" and your creating a work of art. So, it is not fair to actors/actresses to expect them to put their art out there, but don't expect to get paid for it.
Joanna has 2 businesses that she runs in Hawaii, and for her to leave her business...even for a brief amount of time, it was extremely hard to do for her, to get away. Plus, she works in jobs where she is surrounded by buisness people, who are saying to her...this was a show you put your heart and soul in to it, and you should be paid something , and I think that is totally a legitimate thing to want. There are so many actors/actresses that get absolutly no money from the shows they spent years working on-and that was what they made themselves known for, and they earned that, they worked themselves to death, and then they have nothing to show for it in the end. As a fan of alot of older shows, it outrages me to know how taken advantage of-the stars are.
Joanna got out of the entertainment business because of the way people are treated within that business.. And, I personally can't even comprehend the enormous amounts of pressure that are put on actors/actresses...and the work they do is so time consuming and so demanding...but all the public sees is the "image" of them...they don't seem to look at a celebrity as being a normal person at all.
I was a fan of the show, and I think that Andy Mangels did a fantastic job on everything and that he put way more special features on it than I have ever seen in any DVD release. The interviews they did with Brian, Joanna Pang, and Ronalda Douglas were lengthy and they got alot of time to talk about the show. The behind the scenes pictures were a great addition, and over all the DVD itself is really well done.
Joanna would have liked to have been on it, if she could have been a part of the whole process she had every intention of taking proceeds from the sale of the DVD, and she would have donated money to several of her favorite charities. She highly supports the families of our military.
Joanna is grateful to have been a part of a well respected show. She is thankful to all her fans for their support, I am sure she would love to hear from some of you. It never hurts to remind a person when they did a good thing in their lifetime.
Joanna did do the VH-1..Where are they Now? episode, a few years back, so at least fans have had an opportunity to see what she looks like now-which she still looks great, and they know what she's doing in her life.
She is very happy that people are saying good things about the DVD.
Joanna put her heart and soul in to the show, and she did a fantastic job, if she hadn't, it wouldn't have been the most popular Saturday morning show-of it's time-that is proof that people respected it and loved it.
I personally think it was one of the best shows ever made. As, I watched the clips of the "Morals"...it took me back to my childhood...and the nostalgia of that period in my own life, and the people in my life at that time who I miss dearly...and if a TV show can do that, that in itself is amazing. I think in this day and age where you see no messages anywhere directed towards children ...we need that in today's world more than ever....you can see it in the kids today. They need role models so badly, and the entertainment industry today is setting a horrible example for kids to follow.
So, when I see Joanna saying things to children on that show...like...don't do a dare and do something stupid, be brave enough not to do the wrong thing, and don't play with guns, and be respectful to others, and to your parents, and don't judge people based on their skin color, and women can do any job a man can do....those are things that need to be taught...there are so many kids out there in the world that need guidance to do those things, and need taught right from wrong, and it can change people's lives if they have a person in their world showing them the right direction.
I know it, because I had role models like Joanna, and became a part of the Big Brother/Big Sister program, and other organizations to make sure I passed on what was taught to me by somebody, and I will be forever grateful to Joanna for her role in my life in that way. I am honored to be her friend.

I've been away for a while and haven't kept up on this board or any of the other theme-related boards lately and haven't had a chance to gauge the temperature at any of the comic book shows, San Diego Con, etc. so I was wondering if there's any news in that age-old stalemate between Warner Brothers-DC Comics/Shazam?
It's just unreal that we can't get a Shazam full 28 episode DVD release of the shows that ran from 1974-1976 on CBS. It seems that with each passing year we go into the Summer with some hope but then after the Summer conventions end and the companies lay out their plans, we find that Shazam isn't in them for another year. I guess I was just hoping for something more positive for '08-'09. I wonder what it will ultimately take to bring this three season set to life for the fans?

- IMPORTANT NOTICE about the live-action Filmation DVDs!!! -- Site Administrator, 12:10:18 12/19/08 Fri (bluecoat.berea.edu/192.68.112.136)
It was announced today that Navarre, the parent company of BCI/Eclipse, have announced that they will be SHUTTING DOWN BCI effective immediately.
BCI is the studio that over the past couple of years has been releasing a lot of Filmation product, including the live-action shows ISIS, ARK II, SPACE ACADEMY, JASON OF STAR COMMAND and THE GHOST BUSTERS.
The reason this notice is very important to us is that with BCI being closed down, it seems highly likely that once supplies of their DVD product are bought-up, they are NOT likely to be reprinted. No one knows what Navarre's plans are: they COULD retain all of BCI's old licences, and then again, they could decide there's no money in it.
So, bottom line: if you want any of the Filmation shows on DVD, NOW is the time to buy them while the prices are still cheap (less than $20 per show online). Once these go out-of-print, I suspect they will become quite hard to find and probably will not be rerelased anytime soon (if ever).

I have been wondering about ISIS long hair down to her hips in the FIRST SEASON. It was straight, lusterous, black and very nice looking. Was that her real hair? If it was a wig, was it a human hair wig? Does anyone know?

The comics magazine "Back Issue" will have interviews with Jackson Bostwick and John Davey as part of a special "Saturday Morning Heroes" issue.
It's issue number 30, with a cover date of October, 2008.
Here's a link:

"Back Issue's" articles are always great - they did a article about "Isis" that was tied into the DVD release from awhile back that was fun. This article should be a good read as well.

- The 2nd Season was not as great -- Gene ((confident)), 23:53:07 07/02/08 Wed (ont-static-208.57.94.57.mpowercom.net/208.57.94.57)
I have just finished looking at the new ISIS DVD for the first time. I was 10 years old when it came out back in 1975-1976. So that means ISIS was very special to me. I was able to "suspend my disbelief" which means I believed what was happening on screen was real at . ISIS lived in my heart and mind.
I loved that super-long hair straight black hair that went down below her waist. Of course she has that nice micro-mini-dress, goreous legs and go-go boots. I love to see her fly and her skirt and hair wave in the wind in the first season.
However in the second season I think think producers made some very poor decisions. First of all they took ISIS down from the wires they used to make her "fly". Then, through special effects all she had to do was stand upright on a stage and the camera or film would be turned horizonal to show her flying. From doing that, you all may have noticed that her skirt while flying in the 2nd season no longer hugged her body when flying but it stood away from her hips in a perfect circle because she was standing straight up on a stage. They made it even worst by not filming her directly over a background above the clouds, but they filmed a "film" of her over another film. It gave her a two-deminsional look. I did not like that at all.
That long silky straight black hair down to her hips was over with too. Now she had a curly a hair job that only reach to her mid-back. Still pretty, but not as much. That hurt her beautiful image just a tad for most people.
The Producers did not bring back "Cindy Lee" (Joanna Pang Atkins) in the Second Season. Mrs. Pang explained what happen in the interview she made on the new dvd. Pang said that after the first season they had some time off. So she went back to New York. When it was getting time for them to start filming again, she was waiting for a phone call from the producers asking her back. That phone call never came. She called her agent in California (that's were I am) and it took 2 days for him to find out anything. He basically told Joanna Pang, that producers have decided to make a change in casting for the new season. Pang said that it was a fancy was of saying that they don't need you anymore. In my opinion they did need her. She was replaced by the character "Renee Carroll" (Ronalda Douglas). She may have been a good singer and more, but she was no replacement for the cute and lovely "Cindy Lee" who we had grown so attached to in the first season.
The music and sound seem to have suffered too in the 2nd season. They changed the begining theme music to ISIS. In the first season the sound seemed always to be in perfect sync with the picture and put in just the right scenes. They had terrifc dramatic music when something was happening in the series that was dangerous or wrong, during the first season.
Sure enough, you can have all the excuses in the book, but the 1st season was a full season. The 2nd season only lasted 2 months.
I am not knocking the 2nd season totally. I am just saying the the 1st season of ISIS was noticable better than the second season.
Sincerely Gene

I was recently introduced To Jackson Bostwick (Captain Marvel) by a freind, and I was completely blown away by His genuine reverence for the character. Even after all these years He'll talk your ears off with stories and insights about Shazam. Where some actors are a little put off by there defining roles....Jackson seems to actually dig his place in history as Captain marvel. Kinda the way Adam West is with Batman. I thought id share that.

Although Joanna is known for having made the record books for number of commercials, I've never been able to come across one she was in, amidst all the vintage TV I collect.
I think now that's changed. This link is to a 1971 ad for the hair color product "For Brunettes Only" and I am pretty sure that's Joanna at the 12 second mark of the commercial saying "Midnight brown." I'd like to know if anyone agrees and can confirm that.

I grew up in the Seventies and eighties,
there are quite a few shows that I grew upon.
I'd love it if Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, Joanna Cameron as Andrea Thomas AKA Isis, Michael Gray as Bill Batson AKA Cpt. Marvel, Adam West as Bruce Wayne AKA Bat-
Man, Burt Wardas Dick Greyson AKA Robin, Yvvon Craig as Barbara Gordon AKA Bat-Girl, Billy Barton as Matthew Starr a royal princ from the stars , William Katt would return as their TV Roles Super Heros To pass on to their kids or Grand Kids their Legacy and powers.
The way that these Shows ended it left a great big gap. it left things hanging like a cliff hanger friday for soap-operas, which ends on a friday without any resolutions. It'd be awsome to have them tied up in some way.

Can you help? Which episodes of Ark II portrayed rocket belt flights?
Since the series was filmed in the mid-Seventies, long after Bell Aerospace shut down their rocket belt demonstration team, I presume (but have not confirmed) that these flights were made with the copy of the rocket belt built by Nelson Tyler. Probably Bill Suitor was the pilot.
Do Bill Suitor or Nelson Tyler appear in the credits of any episodes?
Is there any information on the "DVD extras" of this series about the rocket belt?

She said she is praying for our troops, and their familes, and for our planet.

1. Before flying, Isis usually says, "Oh zephyr winds which blow on high, lift me now so I can fly". But there are a few times when she is able to fly without uttering this phrase. So does she have to say it or not, and if not, why does she say it at all?
2. In the Special Features section on disc 3 it says that the morals segments were removed from the film masters in the 1990s. Anybody have any idea why that was done?

- Very entertaining show -- Alex, 16:52:45 09/14/07 Fri (S01060017f2c29c22.cg.shawcable.net/68.146.41.232)
As someone who never saw the original series (I'm in Canada and we didn't start getting cable TV feeds from the US until the year after Isis ended) I was interested in checking this show out on DVD. I have to admit that Joanna Cameron was the main reason for wanting to check it out - so sue me! ;-)
On the whole, I've quite enjoyed the show. I generally take an "it is what it is" attitude when it comes to vintage productions. After all, Doctor Who is one of my favorite shows, so who am I to be picky if the SFX are a bit low-tech at times? There were a few moments that made me roll my eyes, like the hiliariously bad bear costume in one episode, and a few lines of dialogue that take on whole new meanings (usually of a salacious nature) when viewed through 2007 eyes.
But I found Isis on the whole to be very enjoyable, and surprisingly mature at times, too (for a "kid's show"), whether in its treatment of the obvious relationship between Rick and Andrea, which is depicted without the usual neon sign pointing down, flashing "THEY'RE A COUPLE", or in the plot lines, some of which were surprisingly deep, such as the Hitchhiking episode or "Lucky". That made up for production values that - no offense intended - resembled that of a low-grade B movie at times.
Joanna Cameron does a marvellous job in the dual role. My only complaint was Isis' change to late 70s-style "big hair" in the final 7 episodes, which made her look about 10 years older. (Which for Joanna Cameron is still great, but it just seemed a bit too obvious that they were trying to make her look more like Lynda Carter.) And while Renalda is a good addition, would it have killed them to have both Renalda and Cindy Lee in the final season?
The DVD collection is pretty good with regards to its extras. I'm glad they were able to uncover most of the morals (more Joanna footage is never a bad thing) and we even get a glimpse of her appearance on Shazam which we may never see if Warners doesn't get around to releasing that series to DVD one of these days (I was actually pleasantly surprised that I&P was allowed to include the Shazam episodes of Isis in the set; I expected them to be omitted.) The Freedom Force episode was a nice bonus (saves me having to shell out for that set) and the interviews were great, though Joanna is of course conspicuous by her absence. I usually don't double-dip but I'll consider doing so if they ever release a revised version with her involvement.
Isis is gonna be a tough sell to audiences who are spoiled by the high-end CG of Battlestar Galactica or even the new Doctor Who, but if you take an "it is what it is" approach, enjoy the flashback to the 70s, and appreciate the performances of Joanna and her co-stars, I think it's worth your time. And if I may be allowed one more moment of non-political correctness, Isis' costume I thought was a lot sexier than Wonder Woman's. So there! ;-)

Writing a review for this childhood series of mine is more a labor of love than anything else.
The Shazam/Isis hour and later “The Secrets of Isis” series were two shows that have stuck with me since childhood, and one I shall take with me through the sands of time and throughout my lifetime.
Why did these two shows resonate so much with me growing up? What did these shows convey that made them so memorable for me are things I want to express here in my review. I also want to convince fans to buy this wonderful series that still holds up today over 30 years later. Finally available on DVD, The secrets of Isis, is a long time in coming, and it is a series that I want to express my sincere feelings about. These are the topics about this wonderful DVD and Saturday Morning television show that I want to write about are: The interviews and the commentary; JoAnna Cameron’s speaking voice (so calming and soothing), the famous (thought provoking 30 second morals) at the end of each episode and the background music, which became an extra in the DVD as “the isolated background music,” tracks.
Growing up in the 1970s I watched Saturday morning TV. I don’t remember the first time I watched Shazam, but I do remember really liking it and making a connection that would forever stick. I am a very emotional person and really noticed and connected to the background music in a profound way. It would never leave my soul and at the age of 41 still lives with me. Then Shazam introduced Isis, and she would have her own show following his and the two shows merged and became, “The Shazam/Isis hour.” I would look forward to seeing Isis in her own series each and every week in a new exciting adventure. Like all good things, these shows 28 episodes for Shazam, and 22 episodes of Isis came to an end including airing repeats the shows would not be seen or heard from again. Shazam reruns came back for a short time in the early eighties plus 3 episodes with guest star Isis, and that was that. The shows may have left the air but they never left my soul especially the background music, JoAnna Cameron wonderful speaking voice and those morals. Everything in its proper place, but when something has a profound effect on you you don’t want to lose it, and when it was gone there was an empty space left inside me.
Finally after thinking I would never see this Saturday morning show ever again, I did get a chance to obtain them on Video in the early 1990s, with most deleted of the wonderful morals, however I was lucky to obtain 5 of those 30 second morals on some of the videos. Now finally on DVD I like so many fans not only have a chance to see the episodes clear and crisp and not a copy of a copy of a copy, but also filled with wonderful extras. Interviews with
the main cast (despite the biggest disappointment not having JoAnna Cameron the star, not wanting to be included in this one-time-only event) Interviews, with the creator and writers, designer and directors, were wonderful except that the interviews were in small box, why not a full screen. (I hope they do the Shazam interviews on a full screen not a box in a box. Otherwise they were wonderful to see and learn about the making of such a wonderful series. I was very happy to see commentary on at least one episode called, “Dreams of Flight.”
For years since I obtained the shows on video I would put the episodes on audio to listen to on the road on my headphones. I would also tape all the scenes with the same background music from the show and put them on audio as well. Yvette Blais and Jeff Michael wrote some of the most beautiful background music I have ever heard and will cherish them until the day I leave this world. I saw the background music as important and a part of each scene and episode as the actors and the storylines were. Both the theme songs for both Captain Marvel and Isis were incredibly awesome. There was action music to fit the scene, or when the scene needed to be tender and emotional, I felt it and connected with it. If you really listened you could hear the different instruments being played for each piece of music, a harp, flute, and a sweet violin. I can get overly sentimental and mushy over the music, but that is how it has made me feel all my life to this day. I just wished something or anything was said about it, which made this show even more memorable in the interviews and commentary segments. Thank you Yvette Blais and Jeff Michael for the music you both so beautifully created. I truly wish I knew where to write and thank you and obtain a photograph of what you both look like.
JoAnna Cameron was the perfect person to portray both Andrea Thomas and Isis. She was beautiful to look at and sexy in the Isis mini skirt and shoe boots. She didn’t have to say a word, and would say a million things with her eyes, facial expressions, and body movements. But the one thing that grabbed me about JoAnna portraying both characters was her speaking voice. Her voice had an innately calming, soothing effect when she spoke. Her speaking voice, a gift from G-d exuded caring, compassion, kindness and a calming effect that could put anyone at ease. I always say, if I or someone were suffering a traumatic experience or going thru a trauma in their life that JoAnna Cameron’s calming voice could get them thru it. I have always been attracted to wonderful speaking voices whether they are male or female and always compare those to JoAnna Cameron’s. When I die and hopefully go to heaven it is the speaking voice of JoAnna Cameron’s that I hope welcomes me into the gates of heaven. So thank you JoAnna Cameron, I hope your life is a healthy and happy one
and sorry you couldn’t join the interviews. When the Shazam series becomes available there is still hope that JoAnna Cameron is available to be interviewed for the interview segments.
I enjoyed the rest of the cast as well including Brian Cutler, JoAnna Pang, Ronalda Douglas, and Albert Reed. From Andrea Thomas/Isis, to the rest of the cast each had wonderful qualities and if we have friends in our life like them we should consider ourselves very lucky. Andrea Thomas portrayed a teacher that made her students feel they could do and achieve anything no matter what the odds. As we grew we may also have been lucky if
we had teachers like that in our own lives, because we will always remember them as I have Andrea Thomas and Isis.
It was great to have commentary on the “Dreams of Flight” episode, and would have been just as wonderful to have another episode with the cast members doing a commentary.
Watching the show for years on Video and as each episode would end minus the morals I knew something important was missing and there was. Those thirty-second thought provoking morals. Each story gave a message and a moral and it made each story complete. Each moral was never ever preachy; it just gave you a piece of wise sage to think about and hopefully follow. I thought I would never see them again, and when my friend Max told me that they were cut out of the original masters it made me so sad to think I would never get to see them again, they had meant so much to me. As the theme music played in the background Isis’ soft soothing voice gave the moral to the story that had just ended. When I heard that in one of the “special features” on the DVD, they would have rare scenes such as the morals, I became happy, but thought they would only include the ones that myself and collectors already had and nothing more. But as I bought “The Secrets of Isis” on my birthday I went straight to the morals and I was surprised beyond belief. Not only did they have the morals that I already had but many, many more I did not. I was so overwhelmed and emotional that my dream had come true, for the first time in almost thirty years those cherished thirty- second morals that I missed so much and thought would never see again was here to watch, enjoy and remember. The series and the morals still holds up today for me as it did when I first watched them on Saturday Morning in the seventies. I felt so blessed to see them again.
Excitedly, I looked forward to the “isolated background music” since I am a major fan of the shows background music. But I do wish they would have included episodes such as “Lucky” and “Dreams of Flight” since the background music was incredible in both, and wondered if the episodes that were chosen for the “isolated background music” were the only ones available or just chosen at random?
I hope when the Shazam series becomes available that they use more “isolated background music” since the background music in Isis was the same as Shazam. I hope they include such episodes as “The Odd Couple”, ”Riptide” and a couple from season one that had the same music as in “Dreams of Flight” from the Isis series. Andy Mangels if you read this please use your contacts and tell the powers that be when doing the Shazam series please tell them what the fans want, including the Shazam morals. As fans we would be so thankful. Thanks for your help and thanks so much for the wonderful work on “The secrets of Isis DVD.” Many times through the years, I thought I would never, ever see this series again and now not only do I have them, but they are wonderfully restored with the morals and so many extras.
So this is my homage, testimony, sincere love and sincerity that my favorite series of all time due to JoAnna Cameron, her soft soothing speaking voice, the compassion and kindness she exuded, the background music and thirty-second morals that were so powerful, that it in part helped me to become the man that writes this today. I hope I am a more caring, compassionate and honorable individual because of this show. So yes go out and buy this DVD and show it to the next generation so it will never be forgotten. This is a show with substance and meaning that should travel through time never losing what it set out to do, to entertain and include a message and a moral to young viewers as I too was once.

- A Discovery in one of the early episodes of ISIS! -- Scott T., 19:58:29 08/29/07 Wed (75-171-10-51.phnx.qwest.net/75.171.10.51)
Hello all,
I think I just made a really cool discovery last night. I just got my ISIS DVD Set yesterday afternoon, and then later in the day I went to the movies and watched "The Last Legion" (It's a retelling of the Merlin / Excalibur story) At any rate, one of the films main stars was Colin Firth. When I got home from the movies I put in my ISIS DVD and started watching. I think it was the 4th episode (The Outsider)... (The one about the country boy that does not fit in, and he tries to save a pond) In that episode there were 2 boys that were razzing the country boy. One of those boys had red hair and he looks just like a young Colin Firth. Even has some of the same mannerisims. Now, the credits do not list him as Colin Firth, but I am wondering if he went by an alias on that show. After all... he would have been just starting out at that point.
Any clues on if I'm right, or wrong?
thanks,
Scott T.

Sorry, I didn't explain the whole process as well as I should have. I have both sides of the story-because I know Andy Mangels too, and I do know that he did make attempts to get her on the DVD....that's why I am saying that there was a lack of communication on both parts in this whole process. Because Andy was under the impression that Joanna was calling him back, and Joanna was under the impression he was calling her back, and in the process.. nothing ever came to be. And that's the whole story. She wanted to be a part of it...but yes she did want paid...the others were not paid...(from what I know personally). That is totally up to the individual. You can't fault each person because of each one making different choices. Every person's life is set up completely different. I think it is fantastic that the other cast members went and did the San Diego convention and did the special features. But, on the other hand what Joanna Pang says on the DVD...about why she didn't return for the 2nd season...they left her hanging...she didn't have a clue why she wasn't coming back, and nobody had the decency to call her up and tell her why...she had to track her agent down, and then she gets the whole "we are going in another direction". Now, when you know you did a good job, and the show is a hit...and then you get dumped...with no explaination, because you know you didn't do anything wrong...that's not right.
Is it right when you know some how somewhere someone is making money off your face, and your work that you busted your butt on ..15-16 hours a day, and you get nothing out of it? I don't think anybody out there would do their job for free and sit there and watch your boss make money off of you, and you say..oh well, nice for them. It is a no win situation to be in...because people that are looking out for Joanna...are saying...don't be taken advantage of...they are making money, why should you do it for free...and there she is right in the middle....wondering what is going on, and nobody calls her back.
She works now just as hard , believe me...she is one of the hardest working people I have ever seen in my life, she dedicated to everything she does, and she is not dwelling in the past, she has since moved on and has a whole new life, and now everything from her past is coming back around again, and suddenly back 30 years now to a different time in her life, and it is hard for people to understand...why didn't she do it....she wanted to...it just never happened to work out....she did offer to even video tape her own portion and send it to them...nobody ever said if that was ok to do, so she is nowhere to be found. And, I just don't want people getting the wrong idea about it.
I think the DVD is well done, I am not putting it down in any way...I just wish they could have worked something out with Joanna. If I personally would have known that any of it was about money...and someone would have told me...I would have paid them myself to get her there, because of what she has done for me and what she has meant to me, but what's done is done, and it's made and out there,so just enjoy the fact that you can see it without static and you can show it to your kids, and maybe her legacy as a Superhero will be appreciated by a whole new generation of kids.

Well, I just finished the set and since this was the first time I ever saw "And Now You Don't" I noticed that the wrong audio was used for the opening credits, as it was the first season theme music arrangment and complete with a wrong use of "Cindy Lee" in the narration over the picture of Ronalda Douglas. Was this mistake part of the very original broadcast?

A lot of episodes end with Joanna winking to the camera. I've noticed that this is actually something not unique in Filmation programming as the "Superman" cartoons of the late 1960s (which have also been released on DVD recently) would also end with Clark Kent doing the same thing (but only after making a bad pun related to the story just concluded).

I'm just glad that they finally decided to make an official dvd out of it--hopefully it will be here in a few days.
You know, I didn't even know the country of Egypt existed until that show came on when I was a kid, on Saturdays. Since then the history of Egypt has fascinated me, and I have watched every show on Ancient Egypt, from the shows on the discoveries of King Tut, Queen Cleopatra, to now upon them finding the mummies of Queens Hatshepsut and Nefertiti. I also go to Egyptian exhibits with my husband when the museums in other cities close by who advertise them.
My husband also recently got me the birthday gift of a purebred Egyptian mau kitten, a girl, and yes, I named her "Isis".
I haven't been here for a very long time, and sorry that I've been busy of late, as I take care of cat areas where I work at the Humane Society. I guess if I lived in ancient Egypt, I would considered a cat priestess or something, lol.

I am very glad to know that the Secrets of ISIS will finally be available on DVD. I had bought copies of home-made DVDs from numerous sellers but none could ever have the finest quality as the originals when they first aired in 1974.
I also remember that there was an illustrated childs book put out by filmation based on the TV hit show which had three stories. This is a very rare book and only saw it once posted on ebay many years ago. Does anyone recall this book? Please send me an email if anyone knows where I might be able to buy another copy. Thank you in advance.

Regarding the Isis home video that was released in the UK, it is fairly safe to assume that not many copies were sold! Video machines were quite expensive at that time (and the battle between Beta and VHS hadn't been resolved). More to the point pre-recorded material was extremely expensive for the most part. The first stuff that came out that was affordable was older material (movies etc). One of the first modern films I can remember buying was "Romancing the Stone" at £14.99 which would've still been quite expensive at the time. It's more likely that any copies that were here were available to rent in one of the many video shops that sprang up at that time.

- Order Sequence of Morals In Bonus Section? -- Eric (epaddon@aol.com), 01:06:53 07/25/07 Wed (AC81AD21.ipt.aol.com/172.129.173.33)
Okay, got my set today! And because I would like to recreate the full episode experience as much as possible I'm taking advantage of my two DVD players and synching things up so that at the end of an episode and before the credits I can switch over to the other machine and Disc 3 and play the correct moral for the episode. The only problem though is the supplements don't specify *which* morals for which Season 1 episodes survive and what is the order they're unspooling. Now that I understand why the decision was made not to splice them back into their respective episode, I do have to quibble with not including the respective moral as an individual supplement to the actual episode, which could allow for quick access to it, as opposed to this "all at once" approach.
So anyway, can someone put together a list of which ones are presented and in which order? I know episode 1's came first, having just finished that, but is the order maintained of episode #2, 3 etc.? And which Season 1 episodes don't have a moral, so I know which one to skip when going this route?
I don't want to sound like I'm still complaining (though Joanna's lack of participation still hurts), because this is exciting to have the DVDs available at last! If I could get some help on this though it would be appreciated.

It's listed on the DVD set as a bonus that you get isolated music and effects track on selected episodes. What's that about? Does that mean you can hear some of that funky 70s style background music without the voices in the foreground? For those who have the DVD, what episodes are you able to do this for? My set's on order so I want to know what the bonus music is and which eps have it before I get it so I know where to look for it.

hi, i am a long time fan of michaelgray and shazams. i just saw the gross dubbing of a video from shazam from the episode see no evil. this dubbing was so gross, they dubbed in that mentor was into young boys, billy was gay and the captain was sex offender into young boys. this is beyond sick behavior, this was a family show and their sick minds seem to want to hurt the reputation of the show and its charactors as well as the actors. it was a family show period. what is wrong with these people? thisis just plain evil. i think if there are fans reading this or accidently coming across this trash on line, i think the fans should defend this show in every way they can cleanly. the sex ofender jokes do not belong any where near this show,it says unfortinetely what kind of times we live in. it is the people that are sick in their minds that think this is funny, when all it is mean and perverted behavior. shazam should be protected from people like this, letting them know this not acceptable behavior, it is harmful and rude. my memories of this show were great and innocent, i think it shoud stay that way. i know i sound rough to some who read this, but it was an innocent show, and somepeople want to deface it for what ever reasons, i may never want to know about. i never want think of ia show i loved as a teenager as smuttfilled. i do not understand people these days or their possble mental illnesses.i have to go thank you for hearing me out. lisa westphallfan4life

SO EXCITED ABOUT THE ISIS SERIES COMING TO DVD, I FIND IT A MAJOR, MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT THAT AFTER FINALLY DOING THE FAN CONVENTIONS, WHERE ARE THEY NOW AND A GREAT INTERVIEW FOR THE UNOFFICIAL ISIS WEBSITE, THAT JOANNA CAMERON IS DISAPPOINTING ALL HER FANS FOR THIS "ONE TIME ONLY" EVENT FOR FANS TO NOT INCLUDE HERSELF IN THE DVD.
IF PERSONAL HEALTH PROBLEMS OR FAMILY PROBLEMS AROSE I WOULD UNDERSTAND AND PRAY FOR HEALTHY RECOVERY.
BUT IF IT WAS FOR MONEY THAN I AM SADDENED, BECAUSE THE SHOW MEANT SO MUCH TO ME GROWING UP AND THROUGHOUT MY ADULT WORLD. eVERYTHING IN IT'S PROPER PLACE, BUT I AM DISAPPOINTED.
I WILL DEFENITLY BUY THE DVD, BUT IT WILL ALWAYS BE MISSING A GREAT PART OF THIS WONDERFUL EMSEMBLE.
JOANNA CAMERON YOUR GAY FANS MYSELF BEING ONE WILL FOREVER LOVE YOU AS BOTH ANDREA THOMAS, AND ISIS, WITH YOUR SOFT SOOTHING PEACEFUL VOICE. IT HAS A INATE CALMING EFFECT. G-D BLESS YOU AND YOURS.

- EXTRAS on ISIS DVD Set and Box Artwork -- Ron Lee Green, 17:07:38 05/09/07 Wed (ACBF3373.ipt.aol.com/172.191.51.115)
There is an 'unofficial' announcement over at the Home Theater Forum boards concerning the extras for the upcoming ISIS DVD set, and it seems Joanna Cameron will not be involved.
This message was posted by David Levine, May 9, 2007, when asked if Joanna Cameron was involved:
"Afraid not. We tried to get her, but I guess she wanted enough money to make the whole thing non-profitable. I was *REALLY* hoping to meet her....
The other 3 main cast members (Brian Cutler, Joanna Pang and Ronalda Douglas) are involved, as are Producers Lou Scheimer and Richard M Rosenbloom, writers David Dworski, Michael Reaves, and David Wise, designer Bob Kline, and Assistant Director Henry J. Lange Jr. I think there are almost 2 hours of interviews."

While I'm disappointed to hear that she won't be included, I'm sure that this news won't prevent fans from buying this set anyway.
Additionally, tvshowsondvd.com has posted the package art, and it's a beauty:
