- SHAZAM! appears to be coming to DVD via Warner Archives -- Site Administrator, 09:27:06 05/29/12 Tue (NoHost/192.68.112.171)
(Full news article here: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Shazam-DVDs-Planned/17003)
In short: Warner Archives apparently plans to release the live-action SHAZAM! onto MOD (manufacture on demand) DVD discs this summer. I don't know which series/issues, but apparently there are advertisements in some current DC Comics saying a "summer" timeframe, which makes sense, because San Diego ComiCon is in July, and it would seem that Warner would want all the free publicity they could get at the convention.
There are no specific details available (as to pricing, disc count, box art, etc.). Expect this to be a bare-bones release (just the episodes, though hopefully, with the morals intact). At least, these should look much nicer than the 1980-vintage bootlegs that have been making the rounds for years (barring the half-doezen or so TV Land repeats).
Warner Archives, which is a division of Warner Bros. that releases titles they perceive of limited interest as "manufacture on demand" (basically, they "burn" the discs on DVD-R media as opposed to more durable machine-stamped discs that are what are used for retail releases).
So, you will NOT be able to buy these in brick-and-mortar stores. However, you will be able to purchase them direct from warnerarchives.com and also from amazon.com.
No

I recently watched all episodes of Ark II. I flew in Google Earth flight simulator around the filming area. One of the things I noticed is that Jonah, Samuel, and Ruth seemed to have evolved all of their lives around such utilities of a higher standard of living, including bathing and clean clothes. The story never reveals why. Retrospectively, their laser defence looks like an ap.

As far as the namesake of the show goes, it is named after the vehicle. It appears that the two white bench seats fold down to make cots. If the events had actually took place under the conditions presented, the crew would have slept either in shifts or all at once. Their is also the considerations of how many changes of uniform they had, Ruth's make-up, tioletries, and so on. Where did the crew originate from? There is also a disturbing lack of defense. Any comments?

Satellite programmer KTV, available on satellite exclusively through Dish Network (Ch. 264) and Sky Angel's IPTV service (Ch. 103), is currently airing reruns of the live-action Filmation series SPACE ACADEMY!
As of now (May 2012), it can be seen every night at 6:30pm. Considering there were only 15 episodes produced, perhaps the other live-action shows (except SHAZAM) might possibly get an outing!
It should be noted that several animated Filmation shows are also being shown, including the likes of Fat Albert, The Archies, Mr. Magoo and the animated/live-action hybrid Adventures of Waldo Kitty!
The programmer's official website (which seems pretty useless for searching at the moment) is at ktvzone.com.

On practically every page I can find it describes one of Isis's main powers as superstrength. Here's an example of one..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secrets_of_Isis
"Upon invoking the powers of her mystic amulet by saying "Oh Mighty Isis", Isis becomes endowed with super-strength, super-speed, the ability to communicate telepathically with animals, manipulate objects telekinetically, and (in one instance) even make living creatures disappear and reappear at will."
I'm old enough to remember watching the show and not once can I think of one example where she exhibited super-strength. It was all chanting stuff as I recall. Just wondering if anyone can give me even one example on the show where she showed super-strength as one of her powers.
I really think all of the pages have it wrong and wonder how they got that idea because it sure is out there. That was Shazam not Isis as I recall.

- The 2nd Season was not as great -- Gene ((confident)), 23:53:07 07/02/08 Wed (ont-static-208.57.94.57.mpowercom.net/208.57.94.57)
I have just finished looking at the new ISIS DVD for the first time. I was 10 years old when it came out back in 1975-1976. So that means ISIS was very special to me. I was able to "suspend my disbelief" which means I believed what was happening on screen was real at . ISIS lived in my heart and mind.
I loved that super-long hair straight black hair that went down below her waist. Of course she has that nice micro-mini-dress, goreous legs and go-go boots. I love to see her fly and her skirt and hair wave in the wind in the first season.
However in the second season I think think producers made some very poor decisions. First of all they took ISIS down from the wires they used to make her "fly". Then, through special effects all she had to do was stand upright on a stage and the camera or film would be turned horizonal to show her flying. From doing that, you all may have noticed that her skirt while flying in the 2nd season no longer hugged her body when flying but it stood away from her hips in a perfect circle because she was standing straight up on a stage. They made it even worst by not filming her directly over a background above the clouds, but they filmed a "film" of her over another film. It gave her a two-deminsional look. I did not like that at all.
That long silky straight black hair down to her hips was over with too. Now she had a curly a hair job that only reach to her mid-back. Still pretty, but not as much. That hurt her beautiful image just a tad for most people.
The Producers did not bring back "Cindy Lee" (Joanna Pang Atkins) in the Second Season. Mrs. Pang explained what happen in the interview she made on the new dvd. Pang said that after the first season they had some time off. So she went back to New York. When it was getting time for them to start filming again, she was waiting for a phone call from the producers asking her back. That phone call never came. She called her agent in California (that's were I am) and it took 2 days for him to find out anything. He basically told Joanna Pang, that producers have decided to make a change in casting for the new season. Pang said that it was a fancy was of saying that they don't need you anymore. In my opinion they did need her. She was replaced by the character "Renee Carroll" (Ronalda Douglas). She may have been a good singer and more, but she was no replacement for the cute and lovely "Cindy Lee" who we had grown so attached to in the first season.
The music and sound seem to have suffered too in the 2nd season. They changed the begining theme music to ISIS. In the first season the sound seemed always to be in perfect sync with the picture and put in just the right scenes. They had terrifc dramatic music when something was happening in the series that was dangerous or wrong, during the first season.
Sure enough, you can have all the excuses in the book, but the 1st season was a full season. The 2nd season only lasted 2 months.
I am not knocking the 2nd season totally. I am just saying the the 1st season of ISIS was noticable better than the second season.
Sincerely Gene

By Robert Gillis 11/2011
After I met JoAnna Cameron in 2004, I wrote about the incredible experience in my regular op/ed column for my local paper and published the story on my blog. Through that, I’ve made a wonderful friend in a lovely woman who refers to herself as, “The Other Isis.” While I know her real name, she is a private person and doesn’t want me posting her name or address here.
But “The Other Isis” and I have stayed in touch all year and she and her family made the trip to Salem Massachusetts for the annual Halloween blowout / Mardi Gras. She worked on her costume for months: An extremely detailed, beautiful reproduction of the original Isis costume worn by Joanna. She’ll be sending those pictures soon and has given me permission to share them here.
In the meantime, she has something else to share: The “Holy Gail” of “Secrets of Isis” sites: Reseda High School! While in California to visit friends in August 2011, she and her family detoured to Reseda to take pictures of the very high school where “The Secrets of Isis” was filmed in 1975 and 1976. “The ghost of Joanna Cameron is here,” she wrote of the experience. I wonder how many students at Reseda know that their school once served as the location of “Larkspur High School” for our beloved Isis show?
With grateful appreciation to “The Other Isis,” here are the images she took that day as well as a few images of Filmation Studios, which produced the show.

I've been looking for positive female role-model programming for my daughters now that they've more or less outgrown Nick Jr. Thinking back to my own childhood, I remembered watching Isis on Saturday mornings. Lo and behold, it's on DVD!
My girls LOVE it. Of *course* it looks dated - it's late '70s TV. Aside from the overall look, what stands out for me is the slower pacing - pre-video-game hyperactive "action all the time". But the basics of the stories and messages hold up. And my daughters (7 and 5) respond to it. Yay for giving my girls a super-hero and not another princess!

Isis was a great show--wonderful, uplifting, moral messages. Also, all of the actors were quite good--especially Joanna Cameron who was a very, naturally gifted actress. The episode in which the little boy's dog dies exemplifies her credibility and depth as an actress.
However, from the sources I've heard, this was a very successful show. Why, then, was it cancelled after only two seasons, and why was the second season only half as long as the first? I would have loved to see this series continue for at least a third season. And, Joanna Cameron, if you're reading this forum, you are a superlative and touching actress. God bless you!

- JoAnna a victim of Hollywood abuse? -- North of the Border, 03:32:58 02/17/10 Wed (NoHost/206.48.21.114)
I happended across JoAnna's internet entries while I was looking for someone else, but I was instantly impressed with her all-American girl-next-door beauty - the type that no longer exists with today's plastic celebrities.
After reading much of the material available on the intenet regarding JoAnna, I was left wondering if she was a victim of Hollywood abuse. There is a Youtube exerpt of her 1978 appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson - I thought Carson, McMahon, and especially guest Bert Convy treated her rather badly as they dangled a job offer at her, all the while alluding to wanting side benfits, parlance for the infamous casting couch treatment.
see: www.youtube.com/watch?v=auQ4VdYAQNA
Furthermore, there are nude photos on the internet of JoAnna taken from her early movies. Maybe I am totally wrong about what I am about to say, but looking in her eyes of those photos, I see a frightened, mortified girl - I say girl because she was only 19 or 20 when these were taken. I realize JoAnna stated in her interview that she had no issue with the nudity, and indeed compared to today they were very tame. Perhaps JoAnna is just to polite to state otherwise as she still retains Hollywood connections. Nevertheless, this is just another example of Hollywood exploitation of young women as it seems one can only achieve success by taking off their clothes! I can surmise that subsequent to those movies, JoAnna no longer wished to appear nude, and her career suffered as a result.
I realize that nudity can be portrayed in a tasteful and artistic fashion; however what is produced in cinema for the most part is gratutious. Don't believe me? Read an interview of the late Natasha Richardson, and her 2005 film Asylum.
http://www.thecinemasource.com/blog/3285/interviews/natasha-richardson-interview-for-asylum/?id=183&wordcount=0
Once you read past all the platitudes describing the character, she refers to her scenes as "defiling." It was quite telling to read that Richardson, the daughter of Hollywood royalty, married to a cinema superstar, established in her own right, and producer of the film - not to mention an adult and mother of two - suddenly realized she had gone too far. What chance did an unknown, teenaged JoAnna have, especially in the climate of the early 1970's?
Better yet, read about June Fairchild - Joanna's co-star from Pretty Maids All in a Row. After her career fizzled, Fairchild suffered from homelessnes as well she served a jail sentence.
I hope what I have written does not open up Pandora's Box but I believe it requires mention. If I am incorrect or if what I have stated is inappropriate, hopefully someone close to JoAnna will please let me know and I will cease further comment. I personally do not know JoAnna, and I made my statement only from analysis of what is publicly available. From everything I have gathered she is a wonderful person who did not deserve to be treated in such a shabby fashion by Hollywood. JoAnna's career after leaving entertainment is a testament to her true character as she contiunes to inspire her many fans.

As a relatively new arrival to the Internet, this is the trippin'est site I've seen yet. I was looking at other 70's TV stuff on youtube, and it led me to Isis, which I could just barely remember watching on Saturday afternoons as a very young kid. So I watched some of the episodes posted there, became fairly mesmerized by the exotic beauty of JoAnna Cameron, and the strange combination of cheesiness(sorry!)and coolness that the show has. It looks like everyone involved with the show tried to do their best despite the limited budget it must have had. Anyway, links on wikipedia led me here from exploring an interesting memory. Nice costume for Isis. Best wishes to Ms. Cameron and all of her fans.

Does anybody know if Joanna Cameron will be making any appearances in 2010 in the USA? Things like conventions, meet and greets, etc? I have autographs of her that I bought online, but I really want to meet her in person. It would be a dream come true if I could get a picture with her. If anyone knows her personally, tell her that she has fans that want to meet her. ISIS fan for life! Thanks! David

- A question for Ark II fans... -- Bruce Carroll, 03:31:54 09/20/10 Mon (c-24-15-192-137.hsd1.il.comcast.net/24.15.192.137)
While watching Ark II recently, I have taken particular note of the Roamer leaving the Ark. A small "tailgate" flips down, the ramp extends, and the Roamer backs down the ramp. My question is: Is the back of the Ark open? There does not appear to be any door -- I haven't even noticed a sound effect to indicate a door sliding upward. Shots of the back of the ark seem to show only black, which still implies the back of the Ark is open, being more of a "carport" for the Roamer than a "garage." Any thoughts?

When the Omega computer says, "Chimpanzees do not speak. Therefore, the creature must be something else", an object (which, even going frame-by-frame, I can't identify) is hurled at Omega from off-screen. It hits Omega, bounces off, and falls down in front of the camera. Kinda funny that they'd leave that in!

- Seeking rocket belt (jetpack) episodes of Ark II -- Bill Higgins-- Beam Jockey, 20:37:39 01/30/08 Wed (bdesh17.fnal.gov/131.225.130.129)
Mac Montandon, who is writing a book on the Bell Rocket Belt and its descendants, and has asked for assistance with his research.
Can you help? Which episodes of Ark II portrayed rocket belt flights?
Since the series was filmed in the mid-Seventies, long after Bell Aerospace shut down their rocket belt demonstration team, I presume (but have not confirmed) that these flights were made with the copy of the rocket belt built by Nelson Tyler. Probably Bill Suitor was the pilot.
Do Bill Suitor or Nelson Tyler appear in the credits of any episodes?
Is there any information on the "DVD extras" of this series about the rocket belt?

- Setting the Record Straight-a Message from Joanna to fans -- Lisa Everetts (mixed), 18:30:28 07/28/07 Sat (oh-76-5-239-19.dhcp.embarqhsd.net/76.5.239.19)
I am a personal friend of Joanna Cameron's, and I just got off the phone with her, and I felt that with the release of the "Secrets of Isis" DVD, that it should be cleared up as to why you won't see Joanna on the special features.
Yes, she was approached to be a part of it, but there seems to have been a lack of communication in the process of getting her on the special features. She never said she would not be a part of it, infact she very much wanted to be a part of the DVD. It has been said about the money being an issue, but what people don't understand ...especially outside of the entertainment industry...is that being an actor/actress is your job. That's what you are paid to do. It is being an artist...but that your work isn't a painting, it is a tv show or a movie, but that is "you" and your creating a work of art. So, it is not fair to actors/actresses to expect them to put their art out there, but don't expect to get paid for it.
Joanna has 2 businesses that she runs in Hawaii, and for her to leave her business...even for a brief amount of time, it was extremely hard to do for her, to get away. Plus, she works in jobs where she is surrounded by buisness people, who are saying to her...this was a show you put your heart and soul in to it, and you should be paid something , and I think that is totally a legitimate thing to want. There are so many actors/actresses that get absolutly no money from the shows they spent years working on-and that was what they made themselves known for, and they earned that, they worked themselves to death, and then they have nothing to show for it in the end. As a fan of alot of older shows, it outrages me to know how taken advantage of-the stars are.
Joanna got out of the entertainment business because of the way people are treated within that business.. And, I personally can't even comprehend the enormous amounts of pressure that are put on actors/actresses...and the work they do is so time consuming and so demanding...but all the public sees is the "image" of them...they don't seem to look at a celebrity as being a normal person at all.
I was a fan of the show, and I think that Andy Mangels did a fantastic job on everything and that he put way more special features on it than I have ever seen in any DVD release. The interviews they did with Brian, Joanna Pang, and Ronalda Douglas were lengthy and they got alot of time to talk about the show. The behind the scenes pictures were a great addition, and over all the DVD itself is really well done.
Joanna would have liked to have been on it, if she could have been a part of the whole process she had every intention of taking proceeds from the sale of the DVD, and she would have donated money to several of her favorite charities. She highly supports the families of our military.
Joanna is grateful to have been a part of a well respected show. She is thankful to all her fans for their support, I am sure she would love to hear from some of you. It never hurts to remind a person when they did a good thing in their lifetime.
Joanna did do the VH-1..Where are they Now? episode, a few years back, so at least fans have had an opportunity to see what she looks like now-which she still looks great, and they know what she's doing in her life.
She is very happy that people are saying good things about the DVD.
Joanna put her heart and soul in to the show, and she did a fantastic job, if she hadn't, it wouldn't have been the most popular Saturday morning show-of it's time-that is proof that people respected it and loved it.
I personally think it was one of the best shows ever made. As, I watched the clips of the "Morals"...it took me back to my childhood...and the nostalgia of that period in my own life, and the people in my life at that time who I miss dearly...and if a TV show can do that, that in itself is amazing. I think in this day and age where you see no messages anywhere directed towards children ...we need that in today's world more than ever....you can see it in the kids today. They need role models so badly, and the entertainment industry today is setting a horrible example for kids to follow.
So, when I see Joanna saying things to children on that show...like...don't do a dare and do something stupid, be brave enough not to do the wrong thing, and don't play with guns, and be respectful to others, and to your parents, and don't judge people based on their skin color, and women can do any job a man can do....those are things that need to be taught...there are so many kids out there in the world that need guidance to do those things, and need taught right from wrong, and it can change people's lives if they have a person in their world showing them the right direction.
I know it, because I had role models like Joanna, and became a part of the Big Brother/Big Sister program, and other organizations to make sure I passed on what was taught to me by somebody, and I will be forever grateful to Joanna for her role in my life in that way. I am honored to be her friend.

- autograph requests to Joanna Cameron -- Byron, 09:48:37 01/19/10 Tue (NoHost/208.119.147.44)
I just wanted to check to see if I was understanding the procedure correctly for requesting an autograph from Joanna Cameron. From what I've seen in posts by the site administrator and Lisa (a friend of Joanna), Joanna charges twenty dollars for a signed color photo and ten dollars for a black & white one. Does Joanna still provide a photo to sign, or does she prefer that one be supplied to her to sign? If the latter is true, does she still require an appropriate payment?
The reason I'm asking is because I wrote to her in late October and have not received any response. According to delivery confirmation it appears to have arrived at the right destination. With my letter I included a twenty dollar check (which hasn't cleared) along with a self addressed, stamped envelope.
I realize from the posts that Joanna is very busy and doesn't necessarily respond right away. Really, I understand she is under no obligation to actually follow through at all. I don't want to seem that I'm being critical of Joanna since I don't know what the situation is with her or if her conditions for signing autographs have changed. I wish her the best. I'm just wanting to clarify if I've done what is appropriate in seeking an autograph from her. Any advice others from others who have had success or are in the know would be appreciated.

I did some “digging” around the internet, where I found interesting photographs of JoAnna on the IMDb site. These were posted by a production member of Blue Angels in Razor Sharp and include JoAnna wearing a flight suit. Interesting, there was also a photo of JoAnna with President Ford, John Wayne, and Merv Griffin! The link is:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0175818/mediaindex
If this does not work, locate the name Grant D. Conroy under Cast at the Blue Angels in Razor Sharp site on IMDb.
Although JoAnna received critical acclaim from the Navy for Blue Angels in Razor Sharp, this venture seemed to mark the end of her show business career. I am most interested in her subsequent career in health care. I am married to a nurse, my older daughter is a nurse, and my younger daughter is a nursing student, so I hold anyone affiliated with nursing with the highest regard. It was inspiring to discover JoAnna’s involvement in nursing – in my probably irrelevant opinion, nursing is far more significant and rewarding a career than acting. Perhaps someday JoAnna will reveal details of this endeavour so that her younger fans may be encouraged towards this most worthy vocation.

For those interested in obataining copies of the short-lived 1976-77 Isis comic book based on the TV series, there is a torrent file containing all eight issues that allows them to be downloaded if you have a program like BitTorrent AND if you have the "ComicRack" software program. I had a chance to thumb through some of them and they launched this with a lot of enthusiasm only to have low-sales short-circuit the project. I suspect that a lot of young boys in those days, even those who enjoyed watching Isis on TV, were generally not the kind who wanted to call attention to themselves buying a comic book spotlighting the adventures of a superheroine.

maybe it was my imagination, but it seemed like JC wasn't as enthused to be playing the part of Andrea/Isis in the second season. It seemed like she was kind of sad, more down and out. Like I said, maybe my imagination playing tricks, so if it is, then ok.
Also, JP said something about the upcoming Isis movie in her interview....when is that supposed to come out? I heard it wasn't going to be like the original, though.
I don't know any of these people who were in the tv Saturday series like some of you, who know them personally, and maybe I don't fit in here, because I don't. I think that because I am a very quiet individual, I am probably the most boring individual on the planet.

I watched Isis every Saturday morning while spending time with my two sons. I loved it. At this very moment, I have the next installment on Disc 1 paused at the very beginning of the episode I am watching, trying to find out what the actors, especially JoAnna, are doing today. The episode I just finished was the force field episode. Oh, all right... I had a mighty crush on Mighty Isis. Still do.

I LOVE the costume and 'jewels' that Isis wore on the show but cannot find any likeness for a costume. I wonder if Joanna has any info on where the Isis headband, necklace, belt and other stuff came from and/or ended up.

Sorry if this has been asked by others but has anyone ever tried to get an autographed photo of Joanna from her Spider-Man appearance or BS I Love You?
I'm surprised Starlog never interviewed her as they often interview people who have worked behind the scenes and in front of the camera on sci fi filmsand tv.
Oh and Lisa, if you should read this, has Joanna ever commented on her Spider-Man appearance or BS I Love You?
Any chance she'll do any other conventions.
Please give her my best.

If you haven't bought the live-action DVDs yet, now is probably the best time to get them before they go away (see previous posting announcing BCI/Eclipse going out of business).
The website Oldies.com is selling some of the sets at discounted "remaindered" pricing. If you've been holding out for lower prices, you really have no excuse not to buy now.
They don't have them ALL, but here's what they do have:
Space Academy: $8.95
Isis: $8.95
The Ghost Busters: $7.95

- Anyone know if there's any news on the Shazam/DVD horizon? -- Shazam Forever!, 22:57:37 12/05/08 Fri (ip24-250-226-186.ga.at.cox.net/24.250.226.186)
I've been away for a while and haven't kept up on this board or any of the other theme-related boards lately and haven't had a chance to gauge the temperature at any of the comic book shows, San Diego Con, etc. so I was wondering if there's any news in that age-old stalemate between Warner Brothers-DC Comics/Shazam?
It's just unreal that we can't get a Shazam full 28 episode DVD release of the shows that ran from 1974-1976 on CBS. It seems that with each passing year we go into the Summer with some hope but then after the Summer conventions end and the companies lay out their plans, we find that Shazam isn't in them for another year. I guess I was just hoping for something more positive for '08-'09. I wonder what it will ultimately take to bring this three season set to life for the fans?

However I think is great to see the show again. if only shows now in this day and age gave positive messages like they did back then.
If you read these posts Joanne, thank you for your dedication to the show!!! Love you!!! ROCK ON ISIS!!!

- IMPORTANT NOTICE about the live-action Filmation DVDs!!! -- Site Administrator, 12:10:18 12/19/08 Fri (bluecoat.berea.edu/192.68.112.136)
It was announced today that Navarre, the parent company of BCI/Eclipse, have announced that they will be SHUTTING DOWN BCI effective immediately.
BCI is the studio that over the past couple of years has been releasing a lot of Filmation product, including the live-action shows ISIS, ARK II, SPACE ACADEMY, JASON OF STAR COMMAND and THE GHOST BUSTERS.
The reason this notice is very important to us is that with BCI being closed down, it seems highly likely that once supplies of their DVD product are bought-up, they are NOT likely to be reprinted. No one knows what Navarre's plans are: they COULD retain all of BCI's old licences, and then again, they could decide there's no money in it.
So, bottom line: if you want any of the Filmation shows on DVD, NOW is the time to buy them while the prices are still cheap (less than $20 per show online). Once these go out-of-print, I suspect they will become quite hard to find and probably will not be rerelased anytime soon (if ever).

I was recently introduced To Jackson Bostwick (Captain Marvel) by a freind, and I was completely blown away by His genuine reverence for the character. Even after all these years He'll talk your ears off with stories and insights about Shazam. Where some actors are a little put off by there defining roles....Jackson seems to actually dig his place in history as Captain marvel. Kinda the way Adam West is with Batman. I thought id share that.

Although Joanna is known for having made the record books for number of commercials, I've never been able to come across one she was in, amidst all the vintage TV I collect.
I think now that's changed. This link is to a 1971 ad for the hair color product "For Brunettes Only" and I am pretty sure that's Joanna at the 12 second mark of the commercial saying "Midnight brown." I'd like to know if anyone agrees and can confirm that.

I grew up in the Seventies and eighties,
there are quite a few shows that I grew upon.
I'd love it if Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, Joanna Cameron as Andrea Thomas AKA Isis, Michael Gray as Bill Batson AKA Cpt. Marvel, Adam West as Bruce Wayne AKA Bat-
Man, Burt Wardas Dick Greyson AKA Robin, Yvvon Craig as Barbara Gordon AKA Bat-Girl, Billy Barton as Matthew Starr a royal princ from the stars , William Katt would return as their TV Roles Super Heros To pass on to their kids or Grand Kids their Legacy and powers.
The way that these Shows ended it left a great big gap. it left things hanging like a cliff hanger friday for soap-operas, which ends on a friday without any resolutions. It'd be awsome to have them tied up in some way.

2. In the Special Features section on disc 3 it says that the morals segments were removed from the film masters in the 1990s. Anybody have any idea why that was done?

I called John Davey, and he wasn't even aware that ISIS is now out on DVD. I speculated that Filmation's Shazam! will come out when the movie will be released by New Line Cinema. It was a pleasure and an honor to have met Lou Scheimer, the entire Shazam! cast, and enjoy the fact that so many others out there still remember these fun shows!!! - Very entertaining show -- Alex, 16:52:45 09/14/07 Fri (S01060017f2c29c22.cg.shawcable.net/68.146.41.232)
As someone who never saw the original series (I'm in Canada and we didn't start getting cable TV feeds from the US until the year after Isis ended) I was interested in checking this show out on DVD. I have to admit that Joanna Cameron was the main reason for wanting to check it out - so sue me! ;-)
On the whole, I've quite enjoyed the show. I generally take an "it is what it is" attitude when it comes to vintage productions. After all, Doctor Who is one of my favorite shows, so who am I to be picky if the SFX are a bit low-tech at times? There were a few moments that made me roll my eyes, like the hiliariously bad bear costume in one episode, and a few lines of dialogue that take on whole new meanings (usually of a salacious nature) when viewed through 2007 eyes.
But I found Isis on the whole to be very enjoyable, and surprisingly mature at times, too (for a "kid's show"), whether in its treatment of the obvious relationship between Rick and Andrea, which is depicted without the usual neon sign pointing down, flashing "THEY'RE A COUPLE", or in the plot lines, some of which were surprisingly deep, such as the Hitchhiking episode or "Lucky". That made up for production values that - no offense intended - resembled that of a low-grade B movie at times.
Joanna Cameron does a marvellous job in the dual role. My only complaint was Isis' change to late 70s-style "big hair" in the final 7 episodes, which made her look about 10 years older. (Which for Joanna Cameron is still great, but it just seemed a bit too obvious that they were trying to make her look more like Lynda Carter.) And while Renalda is a good addition, would it have killed them to have both Renalda and Cindy Lee in the final season?
The DVD collection is pretty good with regards to its extras. I'm glad they were able to uncover most of the morals (more Joanna footage is never a bad thing) and we even get a glimpse of her appearance on Shazam which we may never see if Warners doesn't get around to releasing that series to DVD one of these days (I was actually pleasantly surprised that I&P was allowed to include the Shazam episodes of Isis in the set; I expected them to be omitted.) The Freedom Force episode was a nice bonus (saves me having to shell out for that set) and the interviews were great, though Joanna is of course conspicuous by her absence. I usually don't double-dip but I'll consider doing so if they ever release a revised version with her involvement.
Isis is gonna be a tough sell to audiences who are spoiled by the high-end CG of Battlestar Galactica or even the new Doctor Who, but if you take an "it is what it is" approach, enjoy the flashback to the 70s, and appreciate the performances of Joanna and her co-stars, I think it's worth your time. And if I may be allowed one more moment of non-political correctness, Isis' costume I thought was a lot sexier than Wonder Woman's. So there! ;-)

- Lynn Tufeld from ISIS -- Bobby, 03:14:52 09/13/07 Thu (adsl-146-202-226.mcn.bellsouth.net/72.146.202.226)
I think Lynn Tufeld, from the ISIS episode THE HITCHHIKERS, is related to Dick Tufeld, the voice of the robot from LOST IN SPACE. In fact, I believe she may be his daughter. They do have the same eyes, the same last name and the years are right for them to be father and daughter. Am I correct?

- Isis group on Myspace -- Jeffrey Diehl, 02:55:26 09/11/07 Tue (c-24-9-93-150.hsd1.co.comcast.net/24.9.93.150)
I'm not sure if anyone here might be interested in this, but I've started a 'Secrets of Isis' group on Myspace. At the moment it isn't much to look at, but I'm hoping that with time it might grow and become another useful networking tool for fans of the show. Here is the link...

Incidentally, I've also found a group called "Shazam Isis Power Hour" Here is the link for that...

- DVD problem-anyone else have? -- David Hofstede, 04:31:08 09/10/07 Mon (nv-76-0-199-148.dhcp.embarqhsd.net/76.0.199.148)
On the "Now You See It... Not You Don't" episodes, I don't hear dialogue on either the full stereo mix or isolated effects track options. Anyone else have this problem, or did I get a bad set?
