Hi, Marie,

Been there, done that. I desperately didn't want to be pregnant with my youngest child. I was about your age at the time. But I am SO glad he is here. He has been SUCH a blessing to everyone. Who could have known how much I love him? He delighted me with his beautiful classical guitar music. When my mother-in-law needed someone to stay with her so she could spend her last year in her apartment, he moved in with her. He was the only one available. We owed her so much! She had given us everything she had, when times were tough, and she was a person who loved us all unconditionally. Then our son went into the Army and spent two tours in Iraq. I am in awe of his decision, and so proud of him! And he has given us a beautiful grandson. Whenever there was conflict in our family, he has been there for us, helping to heal the wounds and restore the relationship. There isn't anything within reason I wouldn't do for him!

You and your husband HAVE a baby. The only question is whether or not you will protect your baby. Remember, abortion is forever. I don't know what it is you do now that you think you wouldn't be able to do with a baby, but I certainly didn't let having a baby slow ME down. Yes, you have to adapt, but the challenge makes life so much more worthwhile. If I wanted to go someplace, I just strapped my baby on my body and went. I was breastfeeding, so all I had to worry about was diapers. Not a big deal. If we needed to have a babysitter, we had one built in, just like you!

I did things like, I played judo while I was pregnant with my second child. And later on, I finished my college degree (with four children), and studied taekwondo (I have a second degree black belt), and I learned two new musical instruments, I learned how to read 14 languages, and I learned several new methods of art. I learned the law, and I learned about herbs and homesteading. And most of that was BECAUSE we had children. I can't imagine anything reasonable I might have wanted to do that I couldn't have done. Well, bungee jumping, maybe. But that's not reasonable anyway. Right? :) Nowadays, when our kids have all left home (all seven), I will take a notion, pack a little bit of stuff, and travel for hundreds of miles to take pictures. I have a blast! You have plenty of time to do anything you really want to do. I'm nearly 65, and I'm still going strong!

The SELFISH thing to do is welcome this baby into your arms. Why do I say selfish? Because abortion is dangerous, and although you may get them to scrape your baby out of your body, they will not be able to scrape him out of your heart. Your two children have a sibling! What if abortion kills or incapacitates you so that you can't care for your children, or makes it so you will never again do the things you and your husband enjoy doing?

This situation requires creativity, but violence against your own child is not the answer.

Don't be surprised if your husband isn't thrilled about you being pregnant at first. Most men don't really accept pregnancy until the second trimester anyway. Give him time. Don't let him use any head trips on you.

We love all of you and will be praying for you.

Hugs,
Pat
