Hi Shelby,

Hey congratulations on your horse! Your excitement really comes out in your post and is contagious. I'm not much of a horse person (though I think they're lovely) but I can also appreciate a fellow animal lover.

The recent love of my life is a baby Moluccan Cockatoo that I purchased on a very out of character spontaneous decision. I already have four young children and didn't 'need' another pet. (We already have a rabbit and a guinea pig, both quite sweet.)

But as I was going to the petshop to get food for our critters this new arrival of a lovely and HUGE white cockatoo named 'Peaches' literally called me over to her cage and asked me to hold her (at least I'm pretty sure that's what she was saying, lol) and once I allowed that distraction I was utterly hooked. She's only 1 year old with a lifespan of 75 years but is already almost 2 ft in height. She's the largest of the Cockatoo species. She was handfed and is AMAZINGLY tame. She actually loves to be hugged, if you can believe it. When I hold her she will cuddle up under my chin and fluff all her feathers out and melt into this giant puddle of marshmallow. She sings, whistles, and employs every method known to birds to express how much she loves life and she has been a real bright spot to me.

I was just thrilled the day I knew we were bringing her home and getting her enormous cage all set up for her. So on that level I can relate to your delight. I hope you and your new friend have many happy years together. :) Animals are really a blessing.

Love,

Heather
