Subject: Thoroughbred Mare with a problem with cantering right

I recently bought a Thoroughbred Mare that has raced on the race track and done quite well. The only problem is, is that now I want to retrain her so that I can show her in mainly jumping but she doesn't like to canter to the right. She basically throws a "temper-tantrum" when I try to get her to canter to the right, pretty much throwing herself onto the ground so that she doesn't have to go that direction. I have no idea what I can do to fix this problem because I'm afraid that she's going to hurt herself or me. Is there anyway that I can take care of her problem without having to spend money to hire a trainer?
