they are junk! I've been making spinners a long time. What I do is: There should be a small, nipple like extrusion on the side of the tool. Take your straight wire and bend it around that until one end is parallel with the main shank. Take the shorter end and bend it straight up until it is perpendicular to the main shaft. Now throw the tool to the side! You don't need it anymore. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and grip the wire at the bend. Take another pair of pliers and wrap the short end or tag end of wire around the main shank several times. Trim it close and there is your loop. Add whatever components you want and repeat the above but remember to add your hook.
This method is fine if you just want to make a few for yourself. I can make about 1 spinner every 2 minutes this way. Otherwise, you can spend over $100 and buy a "commercial" grade maker. Hope this helps.
