Carp, pilchard, mackeral. Break 'em down and freeze them with a stone in the middle so they sink. Common or garden dead cat is also pretty useful. Hang it up from a tree that overhangs the water. A steady trickle of maggots will eventually keep the roach nearby, and the pike will hang round for the roach, old trick but one that works well. Pidgeons and rabbits are a fair substitute, but nothing beats an over-fed, much pampered moggy with a collar on it! You can hook the collar onto a branch! One shaped like our Trev is purrfect!!!!!!!
