Hi Lee,
There is nothing to be embarrassed about. it is better to start out, without any Knowledge, and pick up the correct methods and knowledge, than to start out with some knowledge, and really make a mess of it.
My advice to you would be to visit the predator-fishing.co uk home page. You can then join the e-mail list, and introduce yourself. There are members of this list through out the UK. One of the members would gladly take you out for a days Piking, and introduce you to the correct pike handling methods. advise about tackle, and if necessary loan you suitable tackle for the day.
We are a friendly bunch of Pike anglers, and pride ourselves on helping to introduce people both young and old to the joys of predator fishing.
Many of us have become very good friends and regularly meet up throughout the country for a days fishing.
We have an annual charity Pike fish-in, during the autumn near Stamford in Lincolnshire.
So don't be shy Lee, come and join with us on, the predator-fishing e-mail list.
