Yeah, I've heard that rumor too, but don't waste your time. You'll only end up frustrated, and damage many household furnishings - inparticuliar, your carpet! Yuck! Not to mention, scare your poor birds half-to-death when they get spooked, hearing those four-letter words come out of your mouth, in an unhappy tone-of-voice - just for doing what comes naturally to them! They wouldn't understand what they did wrong. (It'd be like yelling at a dog, for playing fetch!) And besides, keeping them indoors would just be so sad, because they wouldn't be able to scratch at the ground, unearth nutricious bugs, peck at fresh greens, and feel the sun on their backs, while they excerise in the wide open outdoors!!

Silkies are marvelous, wonderful, fabulous, and enjoyable birds to have as family pets, BUT, they - among all poultry - are an OUTdoor's pet. Give them a large pen, that's well-secured, and carpeted in green grass, and I guarentee, your experience with these precious birds will be much, much more enjoyable, and memorable, for all! ;o)
