BERLIN: Mit Glühwein und warmen Mützen haben mehr als eine Million Menschen in Berlin das neue Jahr 2010 begrüßt. Punkt Mitternacht verwandelte sich der Himmel über Deutschlands größter Silvesterparty in ein buntes Farbenmeer. Schon seit Mittag waren Feierfreudige über die mehr als zwei Kilometer lange Meile zwischen Brandenburger Tor und Siegessäule gezogen. Begonnen hatten die Silvesterfeiern wie in jedem Jahr mit einem Riesenfeuerwerk in der australischen Hafenmetropole Sydney. In New York gelten strenge Sicherheitsmaßnahmen. Die Polizei sperrte die Feiermeile rund um den Times Square weiträumig ab und läßt Passanten nur nach strengen Kontrollen ein.
