The 3 Irish political prisoners repatriated to Portlaoise Prison a few days ago are settling in well in their new surroundings - meeting old friends and new!
This morning (Sunday) we had a phone call from Declan Rafferty (one of the men repatriated from HMP Whitemoor)telling us he and Michael McDonald and Fintan O'Farrell have already had visits from immediate family.
All 3 men have asked us to thank the organisations which campaigned for their repatriation, and the countless individuals who wrote to them over the years - keeping their spirits and morale high at all times. Where possible all these good people will in due course be contacted and thanked personally. They also wish to make it clear they had the option of which Wing they wished to be billeted on when they arrived. It was their own personal decision.
