Constitution

1. The name of the organisation hereby constituted shall be the "Irish National Congress" and shall hereafter be referred to as the I.N.C. or in Irish C�mhdh�il N�isi�nta na h�ireann (C.N.�.).
2. The aim of the I.N.C. as a political movement is to promote throughout the island of Ireland FREEDOM, UNITY AND PEACE.

3. Membership of the I.N.C. shall be based on individual membership by way of a minimum annual subscription, the amount to be decided by the National Executive (N.E.). All members of the I.N.C. are to promote at every opportunity and actively campaign for the achievement of the aims and objectives of the I.N.C.

4. The Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) shall be the policy making body of the I.N.C. Each member may submit resolutions for consideration, attend and vote. Special General Meetings (S.G.M.) may be convened by the Executive when a minimum of one fifth of the total individual members so request. All members to receive at least 14 days notice of general meetings.

5. The National Executive (N.E.) shall carry out the work of the I.N.C. It shall consist of 15 members elected at the A.G.M. The N.E. will elect an officer board of, Chairperson, Vice-chairperson, Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Secretary and Public Media representative. The N.E. may co-opt a maximum of 5 additional members. A quorum shall consist of seven members including two officers of the N.E.

6. Committees of members may be constituted, subject to recognition by the N.E., on a geographical or specific project basis.

7. Finance: The I.N.C. shall be financed from members' subscriptions, donations and special fund-raising activities. The treasurer shall be responsible for all finances, subject to annual audit.

8. Sponsors: Sponsors will be by invitation from the N.E.

9. Affiliated groups, associations, societies, unions and parties will be required to subscribe an annual registration fee decided by the N.E. Every affiliate will be required to comply with the terms of individual membership of the I.N.C.

10. The Constitution of the I.N.C. may be altered by 2/3 majority of all its members in attendance at the AGM or SGM.
