Subject: Civil Rights Veterans meeting

Key figures of the civil rights movement met in a Cookstown hotel at the week-end. These included John Hume, Austin Currie, Ivan Cooper and others. A proposal was passed to implement a commemorative programme of events during 2008. Such will mark the 40th anniversary of the creation of the agitationary movement, best reflected in mass demonstrations especially in Dungannon, Derry and Belfast.

We are not at liberty to give any further details, but a press conference in early 2008 should reveal the detailed and ambitious programme that has recently been drafted.
