Subject: Late John Higgins.

The death has taken place in Dundalk of John Higgins.
He had been in poor health for a number of years.
Born in the Ballymacarrett (Short Strand) area of Belfast, John was involved in the struggle from 1969 and as a member of Oglaigh na h-Eireann took part in many emgagements against British Forces in the Six Counties.
Later he was a founder-member of the Patrick McAdorey cumann in Luton England, and elected twice to the Ard Comhairle in Dublin in the nineteen seventies.
He spent several years in prison in England on 'gun-running' charges and deported on his release.
To his wife Maureen, sons and daughters, we offer our sincere condolences.
