DERRY JOURNAL REPORT-FRIDAY-11TH SEPT.

A new documentary about the attack on nationalist-socialist marchers at Burntollet Bridge on the outskirts of Derry in January 1969 will be screened this Sunday.

The programme has been made by two students from the Ring Gaeltacht area of Waterford, Róisin Mulford and Clara Ni Nuallán, and features interviews with a number of people who took part in the original march, including several from Derry.

The march was organised by the People's Democracy movement at Queen'sUniversity, Belfast, and was in its fourth day when it was attacked by loyaalist protestors while the RUC looked on. Many marchers believe off-duty B'specials took part in the attack.

Derry civil rights veteran Fionnbarra Ó Dochartaigh is one of those interviewed.

It will be shown on TG4 on Sunday at 9.30 PM and will be repeated on Tuesday at 8 PM.
