It is with deep regret, tinged with many memories, of times bright and dark, that we receive your sad tidings of the demise of the husband of the late Margaret Devine, Bill
Tompkins of Boston. The hunger-strikes of '80 & '81 come to mind as one of those bleakest times for Margaret when she daily viewed life draining from her beloved and sole brother Michael (Micky), for a cause both she and her husband served well. Our thoughts also at this time are with those who in latter years unselfishly struggled alongside these two friends of Irish freedom.

Bill's passing will be communicated to the 1968 civil rights veterans, the anti-partition league (www.ia-pl.org), the Irish National Congress and many other groupings whose sympathy should be communicated via this bulletin board, as direct lines with Bill's own family are not currently listed.

Margaret and Bill both fought a good fight for our ancient and justified cause. May they now be united in eternal rest with our old friends and comrades, not least Mickey and the '81 martyrs.
