He sat back, taking in everything that escaped her lips. As soon as she stood up, Julian felt a burdened fear for what Celeste was supposed to do until she merely screamed her frustration out. He started to laugh with her, the feeling of relief running like rivers inside him. The laughter seemed to free what's never really allowed to be freed. An off-guard Julian. He found, lately, he was beginning to be more off-guard. Everything seemed to happen in a rush of unecessary drama. Drama he found... he didn't want. This would be the last day anyone would ever happen upon Julian like this. The sympathetic character would be drained of this something that he knew was affecting him.

He stopped his tittering and suddenly his carefree attitude caved in and sunk in the pits of his stomach. His words came out coated with the acid that engulfed his interior freedom. His fists balled and he looked across the room. "What we don't deserve, we don't get... and if by some fucktwist-of-fate you do, you'll never keep it." He rolled his head back and finally let it rest on his shoulder, eyes still far across the room, but his stare was blank. It was dull and grey. "Thou shalt find that I'll resume the shape which thou dost think I have cast off forever," He murmured whimsically. "We'll always come back to who we are, no matter what we say..."

...Things were fine for about 5 minutes. The laughing...she felt so unchained. SHe felt GREAT! It was better than worrying about who was watching. But then Julian seem to break her happiness, break her liberation. She glared at him, her face turning red, anger in ehr eyes. If Julian could play this game, this resistance, well she could too, she was vulnerable by her own account. She was submissive to him, but if he had to be so awful about it...fine. Exactly how she felt...fine. Exactly what she said so hatefully 5 seconds later, "Fine!". "I'm not one to decide what I deserve.." she said angrily. And then her voice turned soft, as her eyes watered, "But I didn't deserve that" she said and wiped a tear away before running off...

He bolted up, blinking. What the hell? Had she taken that the wrong way, or was it him? He'd simply been angry about the fact that it was right, it wasn't like he was directing it at her... His body fought for some reaction. Should he go up to get her? Should he care? Should he be spiteful that it was her fault she took it the wrong way? He stood up and became oblivious to anything but the radiating steps she had taken to get away from him. His feet carried him like a wraith to the door, hands grasping the side that remained closed as he leaned against it, hearing some faint echo of crying in his head.

Crying? Tears were irrelevant to his being. There were never any tears that mattered. He rested his body tiredly on the edge and looked toward the direction he knew she had run off to. Celeste, Celeste, he said in his head. Whatever did you mean by that?

Yeah, okay, he's ignorant even if he knows. He chose to be. He is!

I am!
