History definetly repeats itself. This could have been easily prevented if people had payed attention the first time. For example in Mesopotamia. If each civilization had payed attention to the mistakes made by the previous civilization which lead to them being conquered then there still might be a civilization which we have studied empire. If the civilizations had taken care to see what leads to sucess and failure they themselves could have been more careful with their actions. Several specific events are the conquering of Sumer, Babylon, The Assyrians, The Chaldeans and the Persians. If these civilization had payed attention to the mistakes made by others then they would not have been conquered.
If a civilization followed the plans which led to military success and disregarded the plans which led to failure then they would have had the most powerful army in the ancient world. However no one decided to copy the success of others and look at what happened. Also civilizations could have copied religions which made the people happy or trading routes which were extremely fast. They could have copied schooling techniques or city layouts but everyone decided to go their own way and not one civiliztion lasted.

I think that history does repeat itself and we must begin to realize to learn from out mistakes. The past does tend to occur more than once and so if we learn to read about our past, we may then be able to stop certain things from happening.
In Mesopotamia, there were people fighting people. The ones with more power thought that they ruled over EVERYONE and so they conquered them if they did not like them. The Assyrians took captive of the Isrealites adn made them slaves (not unlike the americans making african americans slaves). That is one example of history repeating itself (slavery). People were constantly fighting each other for power in Mesopotamia, something that happens even to this day.
Are we going to begin to open our eyes and see that if we learn from our past, our future can be so much better?
