Yes, 6 weeks is way too young to have taken a ppuppy away from the Mother & siblings~We live & learn~( best case senerio is of course that We learn & do homework before purchasing a pet~~
Great Pyrenees are gentle dogs,if they are taught correctly, raised with understanding and gentleness~Your dog, however, is a puppy and will remain a puppy for at least 3 to 4 Years of age~~This particular breed is not considered an adult until approx 4 Years of age~
Puppies are not born into this world knowing what and what not to do, they must be taught~~Your puppy does not know that it "is being bad"~~It's a puppy~~Puppys are very "oral" just like human children , everything must be tasted~~
I can understand Your worry about the puppy and Your child's face~supervise the puppy when it is with the child~~repeated teachings to the puppy about the "no bite" lesson will help and eventually with consistency, the puppy will learn "bite inhibition"
I would aslo consider obedience training~the classes will not only teach the puppy, but wil also help to strengthen the bond betwee the dog & Your family~I would also have the dog neutered~this will help to calm the dog down as it reaches it's teenage years, not to mention that the majority of dog bite in this country are from un-neutered males~and of cours, then, there's cancer to consider~pl;us the number of un-wanted puppys sitting in animal shelters from un-planned breedings~~
