He was about 14 when Mulder was in the desert and that was about 5 yrs ago. The boy with Gibson was only about 13 or 14 now. Obviously they were friends and perhaps that boy is a relative of the first boy. He must have been helping Gibson all this time and of course known Mulder while he was staying there.
