Squeeze is one of my all time favorite episodes. I think the major thing that comes out of this episode is the fact that Scully is now thought of as just as abnormal as Mulder. In the beginning Colton and Co. viewed her as having the unfortunate position of being assigned to Mulder without a choice. But in the episode she makes a choice to work with Mulder and voices that she is assigned to The X-Files. She shows her respect for and her loyalty to Mulder and to the division to which she is assigned. With that, Colton doesn't want anything more to do with her. Squeeze establishes Mulder and Scully's "territorial" relationship with one another.

I do have a few nitpicks with this episode, though nothing so major as to make me not enjoy it. First off, Tooms lives at 66 Exeter Street. Well, it's a good thing Mulder and Scully happened to pick the right one, as they'd have to know if he was living at North or South Exeter Street. Do a little research, guys. All locations south of Baltimore Street have a South in front of them, and all north of Baltimore Street have a North in front of them. They went to the trouble of finding a real street in Baltimore, they could have at least gotten it all the way right. No one would know that if they didn't live here, but it still bothers me.

Another nitpick is the fact that Colton called Scully in on the case in the first place. Maybe he was trying to do a favor for a friend, though he certainly didn't seem the type to do so. But it just doesn't make any sense to me that someone who is a medical doctor who has been working as an instructor at the academy and who has no background in psychology would be called in to profile a serial killer. Could she possibly determine something that the VCS couldn't? I reconcile this with believing that Colton knew he needed Mulder to help profile but would never ask him.

There are a couple excellent quotes from this episode as well. "What is this, the anti-Waltons?" by Mulder, and the head of the investigation with VCS saying to Mulder, "Well, let me tell you, I had a reaction to that stupid question."

Oh, and this doesn't really have much to do with the episode, but it's just a fun fact. The opening pan of Baltimore is taken from Federal Hill. Federal Hill is a hill (who would have guessed) where, during the Civil War, the Union troops kept cannons aimed at Baltimore in case the citizens attempted to or revolt or help the South, as Maryland was a southern state and only fought with the north because Lincoln sent in troops to occupy Maryland so that D.C. wouldn't be surrounded by Confederate states. That is your history lesson for the day :-) Also, the neighborhood around the hill is also called Federal Hill, and it's where I live! If the pan of the city had gone the opposite direction it did, instead of the Inner Harbor and city skyling you'd see a neighborhood of rowhouses, one of which is mine! Isn't that exciting?

I think that's all I've got for Squeeze. I want to watch Conduit now but really should take a shower and do something a little more productive. Maybe I'll watch it tonight!
