Subject: I've decided that this episode...

fits into my 'it didn't happen' category much like Mulder's ring. Not because I'm denying it but it just didn't *feel* like it happened. I agree they shoudn't have used the TLG series characters to tell such a monumental story. The XF audience was bigger. I didn't hate the episode for the most part but this was too big an event and the Gunmen belong with Mulder and Scully/mythology stuff if anything major is going to happen to them. 99 per cent of their XF appearances were in myth arc episodes. They were part of that theme.

But at the same time, if they had been killed off in the myth arc it would be hard to dismiss their deaths. It should have been done that way. They should have been with Mulder in the finale. But they were killed in a one shot ep so it can be separate. So it didn't happen. They're still alive somewhere publishing their paper.
