As for the Mulder in California thing. When Mulder came back from the future, he returned to the past before the other Mulder decided to head to New Mexico. By sending the warning email to himself back at the FBI, that Mulder never went to New Mexico in the first place. Therefore, Future Mulder never really existed, so theoretically he simply disappeared once the future was changed. Its kind of a longshot, but most of my time travel expertise comes from Back To The Future. Glad you liked it. Check out my others at Gossamer if you have some spare time.
