Subject: Boyfriend of 3 Years..Suddenly Gone.

Hi! I have been with my man for over 3 years. We had plans of marriage, moving in together, having kids, ect. We are absolutely best friends and lovers. Though we had our ups and downs, I figured we could work on it. All of a sudden, he found out he needed heart surgery and he suddenly didn't have interest in me. Two weeks after his surgery, he broke up with me officially. However, everything that we use to do together will still exist. He still wants to be my best friend and he wants me to keep my promise ring, "just in case". He says he may want to date other people, but just casually...and that he doesn't really want a committment. He use to be all so loyal to our relationship, but how he suddenly wants to see other women makes me feel like he wasn't so loyal. I almost feel betrayed. I want him back in the worst way. But I don't wanna be pushy. Almost everything in our relationship will still exist...and he's still gonna be calling me and seeing me all the time and doing the same stuff with me we use to do. So in a way I don't feel like we're broken up. He even started to be nicer to me when he made it official. It is confusing cause I think he's confused himself with what he wants. He says, "He's gotta do this for himself." I just don't get it. I never doubted for a moment that we'd break up...and he never use to. He use to say this was forever...and that's final. It just was so sudden...I don't get it.

Do you think it's possible we can get back together soon? We've shared so much together...we were more than just bf/gf...we were the best friends ever. I spent so many hours upon hours in that dang hospital and putting up with his family and the moment he returns to his parent's house for recovery...it's like I'm history. I don't get it.
