Cover me with gauze of white,
Please touch my trembling skin,
Look past the shadows in my eyes,
Uncovering my sins.
With hands of tenderness and light,
Reveal what lies within,
Ignore my whimpers and my cries,
So I may live again.

Reach past the cage of brittle bone,
Where secrets often hide,
Take hold of this, now broken heart,
That's always been denied.
The one that's beaten all alone,
With chasms far and wide,
The one that sometimes falls apart,
Upon this great divide.

Remove it from this darkened cave,
Embrace it in your hand,
Expose it right before my face,
So I might understand,
How it has held me as a slave,
Within this barren land,
I seek these truths of coup de grace,
With all I can withstand.
