Since the city of Quesnel approved in principle a new safe access road to Carson Subdivision, it seems that some of the residents in Johnson Subdivision are already on the bandwagon to have it shut down. It seems like the amount of traffic that would be added to Johnson avenue would make Johnson subdivision an "uncomfortable place to own a home". So much for concern about the safety of your fellow neighbours and their children. It has been suggested that all left hand turn out of Carson on to the highway be restricted, and that would solve the safety problems. Sounds good until you throw 6 inches of snow and ice into the picture, or the traffic coming off the bridge well above the posted speed limit. It would seem by the comments of the RCMP in the newspaper regarding the accident on Feb.1,2002 that they don't even know what the speed limit is going south up Dragon Lake hill. I think it's about time for some residents of Johnson subdivision to think of the safety of others instead of their selfish petty concerns. The city has catered to them for long enough, lets put safety first.
