Subject: It was a pleasure meeting you.

UZO,

I most it was a pleasure and an honor to meet you for the first time at your birthday party in Royal Palm, Florida. Last night I had the pleasure doing something many men can only dream about, I was blessed with the chance to give you a personal dance in front all of your closet friends and colleges. I must say, “I really enjoyed dancing with you, but it was the discussion we had after that captivated me.” I can see why you are so loved and respected, just simply being yourself no matter what the circumstances. I do wish you all the best in your future with your album and your new fashion line. A poem that came to mind when I meet you and my mind went blank after I sang, “Happy Birthday,” to you. I can’t recall the title but it is from one of Maya Angelou’s books. If my memory serves me correctly it goes somthing like this;

You are a black woman, tall as a cypress strong
Beyond all shape and recognition, still defining space and sound, impervious, indestructible, I look on you and I am renewed.

May God continue to bless you and yours, and you know you have a dance partner for you birthday next year. Stay sweet, cause we wouldn’t want you no other way, Uzo.
