Subject: Help with unique patterns

For those of you who need "unique" patterns and can't find them, I've done this and had great success. Go to your local printshop and have them copy a grid onto a transparency. You can do several grids in varying sizes (i.e., 5 squares per inch, then 10 squares per inch, etc.). If your pattern is say, a Care Bear (which I've done from a coloring book for a baby quilt) just lay your grid on top of the drawing and you have your basic pattern! It's not as easy as your regular pattern, but at least you can start stitching instead of searching for patterns. I also did this with a photo of Einstein I copied from an encyclopedia and stitched in reverse (like a silhouette) for a friend.

I also own PC Stitch, which is software that you can import scanned photos into, and it creates a pattern for you in either color or symbols. You may want to take up on the offer of the person in this forum to email your scan and she will print the pattern for you (free, no less!).
