Hi Karl, have been trawling through some BJ sites and am interested in your lead list. It is difficult to ascertain on a number of recordings quite whom is playing what, but you have to bear in mind that Brian's contributions from 1966 onward became less frequent, but that is not to say when he did contribute, his efforts were in vain. You are right with the slide on No Expectations, but Brian was not on Stray Cat, Puzzle (though he may play a distorted recorder here), Salt, nor Parachute as he wasn't in the studio(stones sessions records). Jagger is more likely the Harp player on Doctor and Prodigal is tough to call, coz Ry Cooder and Eric Clapton were rumoured to be attending Olympic at the time. There is one track on Let it Bleed, You got the Silver, where Brian is credited with autoharp. Stepping back in time, there is a harp part buried in the mix on Cloud, I'm sure Brian played the lead part on The Last Time, he's not on Stewed and Keefed because he fell asleep and As Tears Go By is Keef as there is a bootleg of he and Jagger rehearsing the song together. Mind you, it could be Big Jim Sullivan on the take used!!! The guitar sound on Mona is caused by overloading a valve amp and I would suspect Brian used his Vox Pearldrop as the guitar. Also at this time Keef tended to handle the 12 string, ie Boardwalk. Brian left a wonderful, textural musical legacy and the Stones lost who initially was their main man. That's a thousand books in itself!! Keep up the good work!
