That statement about Scott might have been true at the time as the Walker Brothers' repitoire consisted largely of Phil Spector-like productions of pop songs. That being said, some of Walker's best solo songs are the original compositions he penned and placed inbetween his Jacques Brel interperataions on his first trilogy "Scott 1-3".

"Scott 4" was his first all original composed LP which unfortunately bombed because there wasn't any contemporary pop on it. One of my favorite Walker originals by him is this song inspired by the famous Igmar Bergman film :The Seventh Seal":

Walker is an enigma personified. An American draft dodger, who with his "brothers" escaped Vietnam and who quickly became huge pop stars in the UK and Japan. At the peak of his fame in 1969, he was given his own BBC TV series, "Scott", featuring solo Walker performances of ballads, big band standards and introductions of his own and Brel compositions.
