Well hi everyone!!!
If anyone has any pictures of the stage area, and the backstage area of the days at Summer Jam, Watkins-Glen, I would appreciate your sharing them with me, as I am getting ready to write my music career blog, and any pictorial help would be appreciated.
I was the owner of the 1961 International blue school bus, with the big orange WPLR-FM signs on the side, that was parked to the right of the stage, in front of the press and photographers stage. As representatives of WPLR-FM 99.1 New Haven, Conn., we had passes to get in backstage, but stupid us decided that it would not be crowded, and better to see everything onstage out in the front! A big mistake that we all have regretted all these years!!! A couple pics of us ended up in the October 1973 (I think, but I have a copy in my archives) issue of 'Crawdaddy' magazine! You can see me in my black hat with coontail on the roof of my bus, sitting next to a girl from Long Island, who I was having a conversation with, and also was quite topless!! Along with me on this trip were Bill Dwyer, DJ extrordinaire of WPLR-FM, Linny, who was an actress that played one of the characters in 'Hair', and my great friend Kathi Dow of Meriden, Conn. I don't remember who else was with us at the moment.
Also, a couple friends of mine were working backstage for The Band, namely the late William Dills, a/k/a Fastback, and Gene McFadden of McFadden Sound Reinforcement. Gene told me later that I was crazy for parking in front of the stage!!!
