I spent 3 days there. I was accompanied by my brother, (on leave from the Navy), and 3 friends. We drove all night to get there only to be blocked, several miles from the entrance, from entering. We parked the car and got out at an ice cream stand to find out how to walk in. A middle aged man stopped his car and got out and approached me. He was quite concerned about all the people there and wondered what was going to happen. I guess the press had whipped up a frenzy and had the residents frightened. I sat down and talked with him for a while. I told him we just came for the music, that no one was going to tear down or burn the town and that the people he saw assembled were probably the gentlest group in the area right then. He started to ask where we were from (Western, PA)and wanted to know more about us. After a while he loaded us all in his car and took us home to his house. His wife and kids, after their initial shock of us walking in their house all turned out to be very pleasant. The homeowner had his wife prepare us some food and we talked and ate for another hour or so. Later he loaded us back up and because he was a local, was able to drive all the way to the resort's entrance. He gave us his phone number and told us to call when we were ready to leave the area and that he would come to pick us up and take us to our car. When we were ready to leave we called, he came. He took us home and fed us again before taking us to our vehicle. What a nice man, he just wanted to understand. I got Christmas cards from him for the next 2 years. I got lots more stories from the PR festival, that I'd be glad to share (maybe some pictures, too), if anyone is interested. Some of the most bizarre things I've ever encountered, occurred there. I've just never found anyone to discuss them with. Want to hear more, just let me know.
