Nicht ein "Selbstmord", sondern ein "Freitod" soll es gewesen sein. Ausdruck der Einstellung, sie habe allein sich selbst gehört. Ob sie dem Wahnsinn verfallen war? Kein Mensch weiß wirklich, warum ein anderer sich das Leben nahm. Übrig bleiben aber immer die Angehörigen, die sich fragen, wie sie "danach" weiter leben sollen. Die sich auch fragen, warum sie ihnen das angetan hat, warum es sich nicht lohnte weiterzuleben, allein schon ihretwegen. Die Autorin lässt eine Frau sprechen, "die das Projekt Freitod in sich trägt und zu Ende bringt." Und in ihren Monolog mischen sich die Stimmen der Theologen, Philosophen, der Schriftsteller und jener Menschen, die sich mit dem "Schleier vor dem Nichts" nicht abfinden wollen.
